Thanks Easy. I’m back in business, except for the VAICOM Kneeboard.

Same as many others. VR perf loss about 20%.
Rolling back to 2.7

Just a quick question. has anyone cleared the cache as we always did with updates and is there any benefit.
Also is it just VAICOM pro thats borked or is VA also broken

Yeah, I lost some performance too. Don’t have a number, but same mission ran better pre 2.8… But then again, it has been worse, so I guess they will be able to optimize this later. Two steps forward, one step back.

Thanks Dan, I will try to follow your advice.
I noticed having a quick spin in the mariannas. Are these easter egg ghosts for halloween or are they always there ?

VA works fine.

I switched to OpenXR, enabled motion reprojection which is set to 30 fps and runs great so in the end I can run higher quality upscaling than before (60% in SteamVR vs 80% in OpenXR).

Everything is relative.

Absolutely!
But are you saying you didn’t experience a performance drop in VR, with the 2.8 update?

I’m using OpenXR too.

I can’t really say since due to the changes I made I do not have a homogenous testing scenario.

It looked like a lost a few FPS but I was comparing VR modded version 2.7 to mod-free version 2.8 so some performance degradation was to be expected.

Understood!
I used OpenXR before 2.8 as well, and I notice some loss of performance. But I guess that’s expected when they add graphical stuff.

has anyone seen the response to the halloween easter eggs over at the ED forums … I personally thinks its a great laugh… but there are some of the pitch fork brigade kicking off

I thought it was fun but they probably should have made a menu option for turning it off. Some people can’t be bothered to create a simple text config file to turn it off.

I assume these do-dads turns off automatically, right? After the 31st or something?

I would expect them to auto disable after the 31st but if you want to disable them its easy:

Edit OR create autoexec.cfg file in your DCS saved games folder. Add the line:

no_easter_eggs = true

I personally don’t mind the Easter Eggs, in fact I love them. Even if they are bothersome, like the gear handle casino (that was pretty good, had a good laugh) or the Matrix blackout effect. I don’t remember seeing more… were there any other?

The pumpkins replacing the taxiway lighting are awesome. The “ambience” noise? I’m not so much a fan of that - both me and my wingman were menu diving trying to work out how music got turned back on :joy:
