I have no time but good news!!!..last PAR I ran was about 1987, but I’m sure I could still do it - other than the CATCC, it’s all pretty much the same as the civilian side (except for enroute).
No time. Pshaw! Make time sir! England expects every man to do his duty!
nice, I’m guessing this means they are going with actual people instead of computer generated voices – they are getting better with those but still sound way too robotic for me.
You can certainly crash it with rapid disassembly of rotor blades and fire. Other than that, haven’t been shot at yet.
Same. I’ve been flying it exclusively the last couple of weeks and although haven’t been shot down yet, have had the fuselage shot up pretty badly, which definitely affected the flight model. No hover page yet that I’ve seen, but rumor is that if you get in a really stable hover and engage Bob, that he will hold it if you tweak it a little bit. So hover, engage Bob, adjust cyclic as needed, and you are g2g.
Welp I dialed up DCS for the first time in a couple months. Vipers JDAMs are still WILDLY inaccurate even with a full alignment and a drop immediately after. So I guess my wallet stays closed.
Shame cause I’ve been listening to a podcast with a Nightstalker 47 pilot and it really made me interested in the Chinook.
Hey Andrew, do you mind saying which podcast? Thanks.
ED putting the cart before the horse again: modeling INS drift and the Kalman filter but not getting JDAMs to have actual GPS guidance and going off the host platform’s INS drift instead. I’ve made it a habit to lase the target then TMS up and that generally solves my accuracy issues, but anything pre-planned with cloud cover is a no-go in the Viper.
JDAM is cheating!
Yeah, CCIP it like a Real Man ™
I am aware of the work around but I refuse to use it as it defeats the nature of the JDAM lol
The Viggen yearned for JDAM tossing
Well now I would have if it wasn’t for the fact that CCIP has ALSO been broken up till allegedly this last update.
Not a podcast I was familiar with, happened across a clip of the interview and went looking. Its long, but they have it divided nicely into sections if you don’t want to sit through the whole thing.
As I recall it was a VERY good episode.
The whole CCIP thing in the Viper has been bugging me. Its entire CCIP HOTAS flow and VRPCCRP/VIPCCRP with OA1/2 HUD symbology is designed for precise popup attacks even with INS+Kalman filter, but in its current state the drift is so bad the HUD symbology that’s supposed to put you on a proper wire puts you on a wire that’s shifted way off target, and INS updates at the IP do diddly.
It’s extremely frustrating to see this, be told repeatedly that the project managers ‘know what they’re doing’, and continue to watch things not get fixed. Clearly, they do not.
I’m tempted to not recommend the MiG-29 to the 10 or so folks that come to me for DCS input when it drops because ED is refusing to change its tune on how it supports its modules. Everything is about the dynamic campaign these days, but know what will screw up a dynamic campaign?
Faulty aircraft systems. Also the MiG-21’s AI UFO FM. Given how important of an aircraft that is, that needs to be addressed yesterday.
My money flies for HB, Deka, Polychop, and Grinelli. But, for ED? I’m balking.
EDIT: I’m not finding this in the Viper’s bug section. Someone may want to post about it with more details.
There’s one or two lengthy threads in the Viper’s general section. Started by me actually…I gave up because they kept demanding replay tracks which no one bothered to watch after I spent hours collecting them. I’m not paid for that ■■■■, they are.
And that’s why my wallet stays shut for anything DCS these days. To break so much functionality in a module that far along in development and then not even acknowledge it for some time is just insanity. It’s honestly made me stop flying in DCS almost entirely. I know I have many other modules but the Viper was my easy plane, I could take it up, plink a few targets and feel satisfied with out having to dive through manuals. As much as I like the Phantom that plane is straight up work lol
I wonder if Interflug still is a registered trademark or why they refrained from using it. Just looks plain wrong to see English on an East German airliner.
I mean they could have at least faked it with something amusing like uberflug.
