DCS 2.9

OK, this gave me a very good chuckle, and absolutely calls to mind similar scenarios for me ~20 years later. But I still have to figure out what the songs for that would be.

Awesome stuff, remember the song from my first parties as a teenager… the pending doom of a conflict gone nuclear was omnipresent in those days in the Eighties.

It very well may be.

I love the anti-war theming simply because it’s applied so perfectly. I thought I hated Nassault because he just has editing skills that absolutely dumpster anything I can do in that regard, but his grasp of the language of film is superb, too.

I’m not sure anyone is as good as him at making machinima.

I had some fun on a search and rescue mission after preventing my CTDs. Squeezing in between the lampposts and traffic lights is good fun. It’s what I was hoping for in msfs 2024.

Flew it for a good hour or so in the Huey. Good fun flying around Berlin. Lot’s of accidents at once for sure

Oh I modified the weather a little:

Germany is my new home in DCS.

I am nesting here. I expect a house warming gift by end of the week. Currywurst will do nicely.

64GB RAM will be quite a big improvement I think. I have seen up to 65GB (out of 96GB) reserved for DCS in MP while about 30GB were in actual use. Servers like Flashpoint Levant can use up a lot of RAM and VRAM.

The RAM came today, had to play a bit with the BIOS settings since my CPU officially supports up to 2133MHz (the sticks I got run at 3200MHz stock). Initially I tried to run them at 2400MHz but got few BSOD (perhaps timings were set too low), so I set it to 2133 and run some stress mem tests and it’s rock solid. Maybe I’ll try to bump it up later.

I run DCS and loaded some instant action mission for F-16 in Cold War Germany, RAM utuilization has risen up to 53-54GB while flying the mission. Damn… I heard DCS will use as much RAM as you throw at it and it seems mostly true.

DCS will absolutely use as much memory as you have available for it - but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all helping performance

64GB is a good balance at the moment, it’s enough for the more demanding online missions and obviously it’ll help get rid of the occasional stutter on SP missions. Don’t fret too much about running it at 2133MHz, I’ve never been able to measure a difference in frame rate for increased memory speed (though it probably does make a small difference in load times and things like that). Stability is number one!

Fellas,
I am wondering if the TGP in the '16 is broke. I cant get it to slave Mavericks or do the Target offsets. Ive watched a few videos on it and still end up moving the Mavs without help of the TGP. What gives?

How are you loving them Run times? I remember going to 64Gb of RAM… 'tis was like Majic…

Make sure you’ve got no other peripherals plugged in, like a gamepad. I had issues earlier this week with it and when I unplugged my Xbox controller, it worked fine.

Software programming is black magic.

I wonder if they will be drivable in combined arms

Well, I did noticed a slight improvement, but tbh the bigger one was when I added an M.2 NVMe drive to my PC few years ago and moved my DCS install from SATA III HDD to it (600MB/s vs 4GB/s transfer difference).
