DCS 2.9

Yes, I specifically noticed the landings and takeoffs to be more intuative. You get a lot of feedback. The AB 9 is an amazing piece of hardware. I am digging how it works with the F-16 too.

Most definitely Dan
and to some degree, I would be disappointed if FFB didn’t make a difference when it comes to the jet ‘talking’ to you.

Another experience that I’m enjoying is the feedback you get from firing missiles and jettisoning stores. For those of you have not experienced it yet, whenever you do either of those things in the F-4E, your hand feels a thump. That really adds to the immersion.

The HB Phantom is so good with FFB, I’m really curious about the Tomcat. Must dust it off soon. The only reason that I haven’t is due to having to rebuild the controller scheme. Unfortunately, the TM Hornet grip still suffers from ghost output with the current AB9 firmware. I thought that all DX interpreters(?) were same, but apparently not. I’ve heard that pilots with printed grips are having to roll back F/W. Hopefully, Moza will sort that out soon.

Tomcat is great. On the older directplay FFB you can feel the onset of buffet before you can even hear it. Really helps managing how much G you’re pulling :+1:

Looking forward to trying FFB[1] in the phantom (and others) in concert with my seat shaker; buffeting in my literal backside plus what the grip gives me.

[1] seems my WW F16EX grip not compatible, so need more research

Oh, and having something without center spring for the Apach

I’ve got a quirker for the Hornet experts: I can never get my HARMs to launch without significant button mashing. Everyone else seems to be slinging them no problem, but I can’t get them to work in any mode, but primarily with PB mode. AC pullup HARM pullup doesn’t matter which one is boxed. HARM Override boxed or unboxed doesn’t matter. I’ve got the waypoint DESG, I have the right emitter code plugged in, AG mode, master arm on, in range, HARM not x-outed, everything looks good except the bloody thing won’t come off the rail.

Usually after frantically button mashing AC pullup vs HARM pullup and boxing unboxing the HARM override I can get it to launch, but I don’t understand why it’s so finnicky.

Iirc it needs its seeker head uncaged before launch.

Is there a HARM traing mission? If so, run that.

IIRC you just need to hand off the missile and that’s it. It should say H-off or something in the HUD.

I have the hand-off on my Wh hotas China hat aft, not sure what the actual button is called in the hornet. Haven’t flown it in ages except for case I practice

I thought handoff was only for TOO and SP modes?

A good friend lent me this for a couple of days.

Not sure if he likes me or hates me. :joy:

Is that the virpil big boy version of the AH-64 collective?

Indeed it is. Double grip.
Sadly, I have a couple of house chores to do before I get to play.

Nick Grey will soon announce that DCS was just a scam to get him enough money to buy his own private air force. He will now travel to Africa and sell his services as a mercenary.

Source: It came to me in a dream.

Guys- it’s a complete game changer.

Like, OMFG.

Are you using it bolted to the seat so it’s sort of “up/down” or more “fore/aft” with the controller near the floor like in the photo?

I saw photos of an OH-6 with the collective set up the latter way and I’ve been wondering if that is a better way or not
and looking at that super long control arm makes me think it could work that way

I use it as my friend suggested. The piece of wood is trapped between two boxes (glad I didn’t unpack all my stuff after the moving!) and I place the whole thing next to my chair.
Pull for power.

We need some M2000D/N modules for that.

Too obscure for me

I thought the single-seat Mirage F1 was the prime mercenary training jet on the continent

Yes Sir! Yes it is. I got the WW Ka-50 and it really changed my “virtual helo pilot” life. Makes skipping about low terrain especially interesting.
I will soon have an Apache setup
