I’m sure it (DCS) does do exactly that. That’s how Operation Flashpoint through Arma 3 used to work, which severely limited large-scale missions (they became a stutter fest). Then BI implemented dynamic simulation, which made virtually unlimited numbers of units across vast (for Arma) distances possible.
Falcon BMS and the ‘Bubble’ accomplishes the same thing. I’m completely ignorant of how IL2:GB handles this, but it’s evident to me that every large-scale open-world (more than a COD-style rails shooter type game) needs some time of discrimination in how objects outside the player’s observation or influence are handled.
Regarding the not so “HD” 3D models that were updated recently:
I wonder what that new ED product could be.

Good to see you @EightBall - I’ve seen your posts on Reddit the past couple of year and have enjoyed your screens…
I tend to stay away from those sites, they are drama drama drama.
Yup. I’m accomplishing something similar using a modified version of a QuadTree. Perhaps a bit of overkill but I can throw a lot of stuff at it and you never have to deal with more than a few dozen at a time.

Small fix patch

HIP Games is speculating that there will be a new module announcement and that it will be a bomber. They say look for an announcement around 1500 GMT.
It’d be nice to get a bomber, but for the multiplayer experience it’d be nicer if it were a WWII bomber (yes, I’m aware we’re allegedly getting that from Microprose at some point).
The Mosquito we have is the interdictor/strike variant, not the bomber (to use very anachronistic categorisation )
Zipping along at treetop level towards a target with the help of a navigator is really cool though especially if you can get a bunch of Mossies in one flight. There are Mossie fly outs organized by various squadrons on the PO WWII server. It’s always a really cool experience
Oooh, I wonder if? Nah I’m not going to say it…
But TBH any bomber would be great. I’m thinking something from the ‘other side’ would be cool - Me 110, Ju 88, etc.
B-58 Hustler or I’m uninstalling DCS
I mean, I can dream right?
Didn’t think of that and yes!
But it would mean we need nukes in DCS? Meanwhile I’m sure I have a copy of Failsafe lying around here somewhere…
Technically we have the nukes that came with the MiG-21… I don’t think they work at the moment, but technically we have them…
Nah, I’d be fine with some LARGE maps that accommodate 100 nm supersonic dashes etc. for training runs.
Yes.
We need this!
Glad to see you’re back, Beach!
Looking forward to your next AAR
Bomber you say…
I vote vigliante. Interesting mission profile

No need to wait @EightBall
“I need ammuntion, not a ride.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy With the recent announcement that Ukraine will be receiving F-16s and requisite training, I thought it would be interesting to take a fictionalized path to learning the F-16 as well. I’ve owned the DCS F-16 for a few years, but have never flown it. Let’s see how it goes… I recently read on Reddit a thread asking what DCS module that people felt they regretted purchasing the most. As always, opinions were wide ranging…from theaters to aircra…
