Hehe yeah it does a bit,
Raising hand
Okay Imma go be a real noob… waht’s the difference between F-5 and T-38?
A seat. And some misc stuff, like a itty little radar and a couple pea shooters.
Newsletter just dropped. The bit about ground AI makes me feel heard.

I am so confused by this announcement. It says “free full fidelity, not a mod” but then says they aren’t an official 3rd Party.
Which makes it a mod…
The reason is because… uhm. Don’t ask questions and they tell you no lies?
Well to me a mod is when something already existing is taken and turned into something else.
Like some DCS mods have the external model of a plane that doesn’t exist in DCS (F-22? UH-60?) but the whole thing still partially relies on Flamic Cliffs flight model, cockpit and so on.
These people instead with the T-38 have completely recreated everything from scratch.
Finicky maybe but to me that’s the difference.
That’s what a Mod means to me as well. A modification of an existing aircraft.
If you can install the T-38 without the requirement of having another aircraft module installed, it’s not a modification.
But it may not be an official DCS module, for several reasons.
Mod = Modification of an existing game asset
Module = A self contained independent complete asset.
The issue here is “Mod” is often used as a abbreviation for “module”
You can build a full fidelity module without being an official 3rd party (A-4E, T-45C, UH-60L, The Old MB-339 For example).
The EFM and Systems Solution is already in the core DCS installation to use to build your own systems and flight model, the few things that aren’t are Radio systems etc.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was simply the free T-38 module to be used as PoC to get a 3rd party license.
On a slightly different subject, I am quite surprised that we haven’t seen any promotional vids about the chinook and the Afghan map, with less than a week to go. I would have thought the usual people would have had at least a couple of YouTube vids up by now
I’ve always thought of the mods as unofficial modifications to the game, rather than modifications to an asset inside the game. Unofficial assets injected into the game = a modification of the game in my mind.
This new T-38 is what trainers in DCS should be
I just spent an hour with a couple of friends messing around in the VNAO T-45 Goshawk. It’s been abandoned, and the desync can cause problems, but even so it’s great fun and you don’t focus on the occasional issue you have because you didn’t pay AAA game prices for it!
Sad that the T-45 got abandoned. I really enjoyed it in the early stages and was hoping it would get polished.
It got abandoned? Why? ED should pick it up…
An A/T-38, with a rudimentary HUD and you can drop little blue bombs; the IFF course?
My first ever FAM ride was in one of these circa 1981. No clue where our itty bitty bombs landed as I was just trying not to turn green in the back
Had a gun camera too, of some sort; they would do the basic film processing, hold the strip over some light so you were just seeing the negative really, but it worked at that level
