Ah, that makes it difficult… I don’t know if the DCS downloader will stream from another local PC? You could always manually copy the files but that’s just painful…
Well thanks to the Skatezilla app I can let it slowly crawl towards completion… It’s alright I guess.
The alternative is not playing it, so…
As soon as prices drops I need to get a 4TB SSD.
My launcher doesn’t have a slider to enable/disable.
I went with the options.lua edit to disable it.
Yeah, I saved myself the hassle and bought a 4TB NVMe a couple of months back. Now I can watch my DCS installation grow in size with amusement instead of despair. Who knows, I might even get a SATA drive and install MSFS2024 someday…
After the update I recommend everyone double-check their settings. This update enabled easy comms by default for me and was causing some issues.
I don’t understand why updates alter user settings when they shouldn’t be touching what’s in Saved Games folder at all. It really catches one off guard when updates don’t mess with settings/keybinds for years, then all of a sudden an update does.
Has anyone noticed any new micro-stuttering after the latest update?
Not here?
Thanks for getting it updated so quickly. I used it to install Afghanistan on a dedicated server this morning.
Nowadays all kind of updates are to improve our experience…
I just got a 4TB drive for the same reason. Shifting all flight sims over to it. MSFS2020 is rediculously huge.
Just did my first flight with the Huey over Afghanistan. Started at Camp Bastion, to Bost, teamed up with another player and then continued to Kandahar. After a stop and refuel there, north to Tirinkot.
Performance in 2D was very acceptable, the only stutter that happened was when the second player joined in Bost and spawned. Otherwise it was very smooth for me (i9, 4080, 64GB, NVMe SSD).
The terrain details are itself are a mixed bag. Overall I would give it a thumbs up, there’s a lot for it, but some errors still exist. There’s a water way near Camp Bastion that doesn’t make much sense, terrain besides it is below water level and such. Some bridges have ramps at absurd angles.
But then, there’s Kandahar and it’s really the image of an almost endlessly sprawling Asian city. Flying north and over some passes in the mountains feels great, some of the mountainside textures look extremely nice. The trip from Bost to Kandahar had some really nice spots, but also a lot of barren land - which might just be the desert?
Overall I like the map, and I believe especially the mountain regions will be very interesting for helo flyers and fixed wing alike. From the terrain going up and down it’s definitely a generation ahead auf Caucasus.
Cheers,
TeTeT
My normal settings? Yes. With DLSS? No - and the quality seems a bit better than before.
I use medium textures and low terrain textures due to my tiny GPU memory if that is relevant.
Seems like it. I wonder if it’s similar issue we had with 2.8>2.9 update, where disabling the last CPU core would eliminate the stutters. I will have to test it out.
My stuttering seems to have settled down for the most part.
I have been finding my feet on the Through the Inferno servers, mostly Afghanistan as well, it’s new and shiny right now.
SRS takes some getting used to, but I have it working well now with the Phantom, MB339 (picked up in the sale), and Huey.
It’s been a lot of fun finally being able to do some multi-player… (thanks to Starlink).
Anyone interested in doing some sorties tomorrow (Saturday) ? Looks like I will be free to fly during the afternoon Central US time.
I’m already only using my performance cores for DCS. Should I limit that further?
Sounds like it could have been just shaders being rendered lazily. After a bit of flying, they will have all been rendered.
That’s most likely it.
After my latest bout of PC trouble, it’s been smooth sailing for the second or third flight on a map/machine combination. Every new combination takes a little time to get settled.
I’m getting sweet frames on this patch. Love the work on ground AI and the maps. And how about that mirage, eh @Freak !
If you mean around 2024-07-13T18:00:00Z→2024-07-13T21:00:00Z then that would be perfect for me!
@schurem I only just downloaded the patch. Really happy they fixed the shape of the Mirage F1. It had me wondering if my kit model was the wrong shape until I found that thread on ED Forums.
Yet to see how the ACM radar modes have been improved, been busy with other things (risky click) this week.
That was my thought too, unless you didn’t clean your fxo and metalshader2 folders.
Ooooh, very interesting.
