DCS 2.9

At what point to modules go into the Free Trial for 2 Weeks category? I really want to try the OH-58, Chinook, and the F-15E…but none of them participate in the free trial program…

F-15E will probably never happen. That module is unfortunately stuck in limbo until the situation with RAZBAM is resolved which I fear won’t happen anytime soon, if ever. ED modules will usually enter the trial program after the end of early access, third parties can decide on an individual basis whether their modules will take part in the trial program

Mirage F1 is available though, they added it to the free trial program around the time the twinseater was released.
I think you’ll like it. It’s much faster and feels more powerful than the F-5, with a simple cockpit.

I know you never liked the F-5 for unclear reasons… me too. I think it’s the low TWR?

+1 for the Mirage F.1 it’s a nice module even though it’s French

The F1 is by far one of the best values in DCS. Like a fine wine it only keeps getting better with age. I’m still eagerly awaiting the M variant even if I haven’t touched DCS in many months.

I am going to love the M variant so much.

I believe the OH-58 will never be available for trial due to something with the licensing. As with many things one reads on the official dcs forum, the veracity of that information is left to the reader to determine

With that said if the idea of a glass cockpit loach that can shoot hellfires appeals to you… Or maybe a Huey that dropped the entire back seat and got a glass cockpit. Either way it’s a hoot to fly and fight if being low is your thing.

I really like the OH-58. If you like helos at all, I’d recommend it.

Just a sweet flying chopper with a small amount of cool tech on board to play with.

Who flies the Kiowa? Im really tempted to buy it

I found the KIowa a dream to fly, more nimble than the huey, more stable than the gazelle, with half the firepower and sensors of the apache, very easy navigation mfd pages, the AI pilot is the best in the game. Add to that a nice easy startup and airbags

I like the Kiowa as well, for the same reasons mentioned above. It is a bit slow and underperforming in high density altitude situations, but really fun to fly otherwise.

Looks like it could be a patch on the 3rd dec

Patch delayed to the 4th. At best. They could always delay again, of course.

I will also HIGHLY recommend the F1 module, @BeachAV8R, knowing your usual taste in airplanes. There’s even a few free campaigns available in the user files section (even more if you can understand French). She’s definitely been my favorite since release, and Aerges have been very communicative and responsive to feedback.

Oh seconding that. The F1 can even make Viggen jocks turn heads down low. It’s like a MiG-21 if built by a European manufacturer. And, it does have this fun edge of being both Blu and Redfor.

Between it and the upcoming 104, Aerges clearly scoffs at the idea of a turn fight.

So, when did they put the sound barrier transition condensation (need a shorter name, but I dont know what it is) thing in there?

Was testing a mission in the Phantom and wanting to see the AI response (ground units) so was in 3rd person view (maybe why I haven’t seen this cus I’m always IN the aircraft). Saw a “poof” about all the leading edge parts. Was repeatable: put my hand out the window, slow down…there it is again…mash the motor…and again. Neat.
