LOL…you may be right!
Speaking of the F1, anyone having trouble with auto pilot not engaging?
I noticed the update before the current one that it seemed much pickier about the pitch attitude it would activate with. Haven’t tried the latest.
Sorry for the atrocious question but is there a way to have the labels off every time at the beginning of a user made mission? Lately I have to manually remove them at the beginning of every mission I create…
Brilliant thanks!
My most favorite loadout 20+ years ago when playing Jane’s F-15. Can never get enough durandals.
(Now we just need proper runway destruction modeling!)
Air-to-air refueling
I had a nice time in the Hornet today. Just basic stuff and probably done all wrong, but a sense of satisfaction from a completed session.
I started on the carrier - I learned the steps to do this yesterday. Quite fun to watch the skittles do their thing and try to work out what’s what.
Once I cleared the carrier group at 500 ft, I climbed to look for some fuel.
The tanker started turning and I lost my cool and the connection, but I got enough juice at that point that I decided it didn’t matter.
Fuelled up, I headed over land to look for some trouble. I set up one of the manual countermeasures programs, which I learned about in the HARM tutorial yesterday. Looks like it releases 10 chaff and flares each, which is a reasonable amount, but I’m cool with that if it makes up for my poor notching skills.
29 nails…found the trouble.
He was a good 12,000 ft lower so I pushed the nose over and pressed supersonic to get a high speed AMRAAM shot off and force him on the defensive.
He dodged the 120 but allowed me to close in for a Sidewinder, which contacted. One AI Su-33 down.
I headed back out to sea and climbed up to more efficient altitudes. Plenty of fuel but you can never be too careful.
Feet wet. Conning like the amateur I am, but the picture was clear so I opted for fuel efficiency over stealth.
Home sweet home!
One appalling but successful recovery later, I was back on the deck.
Time to go get a paddlin’ from Paddles.
Great write up!
One thing totally for entertainment purposes. I was doing my first DACT back in Yuma. My lead started throwing out contrails.
I said, “You’re conning!” and we dropped back down to a lower altitude, not like it helped me much.
After we got back, he told me that was a good call but “Conning” is for when they do it.
When you do it, it’s, “Marking”.
I guess the curse of the Pharao is onto me already …
