DCS AH-64D

And last night, shortly after getting the DCS update, my PSU started a burning smell and then the PC shut down.

Oh man I’ve had that happen, I’m sorry its like that man. At least its a relatively easy/ cheap fix…

Been there, done that. About 3 months ago. Bunch of cables to sort through. Mark them somehow before you start pulling…

VR users…what’s your opinion on the IHADSS monocle??

I tried to get used to it but I find the mirror a little distracting.

Turned it off right away, and put the thing to both eyes.

Getting pretty comfortable with the Apache.

This feels fair; IRL apache drivers apparently take many hours of flying to get the muscle memory down, and it seems many of them get severe headaches from the monocle after several hours. No thanks, ultimately this is a computer game, not worth the literal pain.

did the same, also this thing is very sensitive to control inputs in the hover or when moving very slowly… it doesn’t help that i have been manhandling the hind around for the last few months, and that requires a firm hand and diplomatic meeting to get it to do what you want, where as the apache if you breathe near the cyclic you are moving

Anyone able to get an altitude hold mode to work yet?

ALT hold is not implemented, yet. 14:29 in Wags’ Launch Day Video above. The current manual EA does not state it.

I find George does pretty good work as a Pilot, Very receptive to criticism. His ALT hold is very good.

Flying it is super fun, but like the others mentioned hovering is sketch, particularly IGE. Wobble city where a 20cm extension still doesn’t give enough precision to cancel the wobble. Rolling landings are stupid easy though.

Right now I’m pulling my hair out trying to shoot things and get the gun slaved back to the pilot HMD after selecting a different acquisition source. The systems and sensors feel less like an aircraft and more like it was engineered by tankers–as in the tracked vehicles.

Maybe he’s good at hovering, but not so much at avoiding obstacles. He already killed us few times flying into things like trees or even steeper hills…

Would anyone who has a warthog please mind sharing their bindings? I’m lazy and can’t think for myself lol

I usually copy @Chuck_Owl 's in his brilliant guides but obviously this isn’t available yet for the Apache. Hopefully tomorrow  j/k

I recommend doing it yourself, since you will still need to know what control is where on the HOTAS. I used Wags video for referencing which controls are most useful.

Yeah his terrain following skills need some work. 2nd flight we were cruising along the tree tops and were coming to a hill and I wanted to see what George would do, George hit a tree.

I also 2nd what @damson for controls. Wags video was excellent. I took notes, lol, and set my stuff up based on what he was mapping.
