I picked up the Apache yesterday……I wasn’t going to , but well…you know.

Right now I am just at the flying around and enjoying the view phase. I haven’t even managed to fire the gun yet. Maybe today. In VR this is amazing. Having the ‘monocle’ info projected to just the right eye was a little weird at first but I got used to it after a couple of flights. I’m thinking that today I will work on setting up more of the controls and maybe learn how to wake the beast from a cold and dark state.

So, I don’t do the beta… but I’m really itching to get into this module. Do you think it’s complete enough to learn and enjoy… and if I already have the RC of DCS World, how do I get into the early access? Complete different install or delete the RC and install the early release beta (DCS World) new and fresh… thxs for your time. OR should I be patient and just wait till the RC version.

Switching to the open beta is very straightforward…just use Skatezilla’s indispensable app.

Just from my time spent with the module yesterday, I’d say that there is plenty for you to chew on right now…. Plus, it is cheaper to pick it up now while it is in early access.

You can change that to both eyes in the settings Paul. It gave me a headache after a while in 1 eye but fine in both

Quick note on Trim; I can’t find the post, but spotted on Reddit a couple days ago that ED confirmed a trim-release ‘cheat’ button is on the punch list. :+1:

That is all. As you were.

Thanks Ace, I’ll do that if it gives me any problems. I can see that this is going to be a fun module once I get my head around the basic concepts.

I sure did!

One of the only helo-dedicated sim to feature Osprey (you can fly one in Arma 2 or in other flight sims as a mod perhaps).

LMC is basically a trim function for the thumb controller. When you deflect it and hit LMC you can let the controller go and the TADS will continue to slew at the rate when you pressed the LMC button.

For now if you need to reset trim, pop into the other cockpit for a split second, and it dumps everything. Which when you DON"T want to reset all the trims can be quiet trying.

you can change it to right, left or both in the options / special settings.

look at all the E.A. sims of the late 80s early 90s, and they are all done by Brent Iverson,

Juuuuuuuuuu sayin

Not all, but indeed many of them. Some were built upon his work - like Su-25 Sturmovik used LHX game engine. Or Jane’s ATF used USNF code base. You can check out Brent’s credits here:

I’m pretty interested in trying this, I’m not happy with my current TEDAC setup and this seems like it might solve some of the main deficiencies in my setup.

Oh what the hell, there was an Osprey in the game? I never had the option on Genesis. That’s killer.

That gives me some Dropship UPF vibes, but without the finger-snapping difficulty.

Also, the Apache has ruined my Hind skills. I’ve pancaked twice now. I need to practice landing it again.

Yeah, AFAIK Genesis port only had Apache and LHX, original PC version had also Osprey and Blackhawk and some missions that make use of those choppers, like some SAR and supply / cargo runs.

IIRc the Osprey also had some weapons in LHX. I loved that game. Played it to bits.
