Does this still break the IC?
Nope.
Itās a great plane, still. Here are some tips. Turn on Exterior Master lights switch in order to be able to get any external lights to work. Itās outboard of the throttle just like the WT. Turn off guns before firing rockets.
This thing is an underrated beast. A2A or A2G itās got you covered. Great guns too.
I need help. Does the radio work? I know cooks w the ground crew only works w the canopy open. I cant get ATC on the radio, or even my wingman!!! I tried setting the freq in ME, i tried preset, i tried manually setting the freq. I even tried easy comms. There in no comms coming up for any thing. I can only talk to the ground crew. What am i missing?
Regards
Maico
No radio, community cannot get access to the SDK - which is where the radio API is tucked away.
Thank you!!! I can stop looking now.
New version of the Community A4 out.
WOW! This is awesome news and so much sooner than I expected!
Dangit, if I get an EFM-equipped A-4E, then I wonāt need anything else in terms of attack jets for the next few years.
I already loved the mod even with just the SFM. I soo look forward to the carrier ops with ths thingā¦
Hereās hoping ED will at least incorporate the 3D model so you donāt need to mod to fly on mod-compatible servers. I think thatās whatās keeping this mod from being more widespread.
I dont know how this sim aircraft flys, but the real A-4 was āON SPEEDā (amber donut) at 125kts and 3200 lbs of gas. This should equate to 16.5 units AOA or needle at 9 O,Clock. Normal 3 degree glide slope but at the ship it was 3.5 degree if memory serves. AOA was always primary airspeed indicator, this puts the hook at the right location when the main gear hits the deck. You have the VSI close enough.
Landing checklist
Armament all off and safe
Spoilers Armed
Harness locked
Hook as required
Gear down
Flaps down
Brakes pumped firm
Speed brakes out
I took a quick spin with the new EFM and LOVED it. Iām itching to try it in a Vietnam-themed Liberation campaign, but I need to find reliable bomb/rockets/guns tables first.
There is a nice Vietnam-Server for this Mod which creates tiny missions on the fly, the player can subscribe to via F10 menu.
For bombing there is a radar assisted mode (LABS), which is a āhold down to consentā style auto release.
Guns and rockets donāt need much (if any) depression for the gunsight. I doubt that you really need any tablesā¦
I thought LABS was for toss bombing? I need to find some tutorials that arenāt Grim Reapers and arenāt 30-minutes long
It is a slight misnomer. Apparently the old existing LABS switchology was used in the cockpit, but the underlying system in the is a new CP-741 bombing computer which utilizes radar ranging. It actually works really well.
Just put the radar into A/G and set the mode switch to LABS. Then press and hold pickle to designate and auto release on the point under your gunsight reticule. You have to manually account for lateral movement and wind.
Just found this video on it. Iāll have to give it a shot once I get tired of the A-10. https://youtu.be/Qpe-xaXsx8g
Great info gents! As if I didnāt already have enough stuff to do with the Scooter.
Honestly, an accessible public server with Scooters was what I was missing.
And my bombing by feel and F-5 tables sucks so the bombing computer is a welcome addition!
Any idea when and in how many A-4E the CP-741 ended up IRL?
I found an NWC paper saying it was implemented in the mid-60s and also used in the A-7E, but nothing more specific. I found a bunch of 1968-1970 Congressional papers promoting the A-7 over the A-4 with comments about the A-4 using either manual release or the CP-741, so I assume it saw widespread implementation.
Cool! That sounds very standard indeed.
I just flew a great training session with me in the A-4 and my little brother-in-law in the F-5. Great for doing ground attack together, or me going full bomb truck with him escorting me, or even dogfighting each other.
I am now considering making a small amateuristic campaign where in an alternative timeline in 1965, we attack a communist France. Him flying a Dutch F-5 from Britain, me flying a USN A-4 from a carrier.
Could be fun
