Finally had a chance to give the Cat a go, and all I have to say is wow! It sounds great, looks great, handles well, once SAS is turned back on, and using DLC when landing is something else. Definitely going to take some getting used to after flying the Hornet for so long though. It’s also going to be interesting to see how long I can hold off slapping weapons on it and flying Jester to his doom…

I played with it a bit. Gorgeous but I couldn’t figure out the wing sweep. Every time I placed the switch in Auto with the doo-hicky forward, down and the guard closed, the wings would go back to 68. By that point I had to suit up for Geneva so I never even taxied. I’ll second @PaulRix—It is stunning in VR. Perhaps the nicest display of cockpit artwork I have ever witnessed.

I just kept hitting the reset button on the left vertical panel any time I was messing with the manual override, and I think that helped?

If that’s the reset button just above the sweep lever when its fwd. I believe you have to hit it after start up when you are done testing the sweep modes

I was originally thinking every 30 minutes but seem to recall a NAVADMIN that ad changed it to more often…but maybe that was Men Aloft…I guess it is Personnel Aloft now.

A good friend and golfing buddy of mine was (emphasis on the past tense) Rear Admiral Bruce Loveless (retired) who is mentioned in your link. We were O-6s together in Hawaii - lived just down the street on Ford Island. I was PACFLT N2 and he was JIOCPAC CO. When a Federal Indictment uses the phrase, “…a rotating carousel of prostitutes…” to describe some of your actions, it cannot be good. His wife evidently divorced him…go figure.

…no doubt getting out of this bunker was easier than getting out of the Fat Leonard affair…

@smokinhole put the lever forward and push it in. Then hit reset. Check the sweep indicator below the hud, should say MAN and indicate full sweep. Put it in auto mode and check it says AUTO now and wings should be moving.

Didn’t one of the DCS modules, for a brief period, feature a VR monocle or something where the view was different for the left and right eyes? Maybe I’m remembering wrong…and I think they got rid of that feature after complaints…

Yes the JHMCS on the F/A-18C used to be right-eye only iirc.

They made it work with both eyes in VR? I might have to try it again then. I found it rather uncomfortable and distracting when the symbology was only displayed fo one eye. One of those things that probably works a lot better in the real world.

IIRC in the real world it takes quite some time to get used to and can still give headaches.
@PaulRix go take a look in the hornets’ special options tab. You can set it to both eyes there. oh and un-F your maverick slewing as well in that screen.
