Yeah, but how? There’s only a flap up or down command.

Sure, be glad too. DLC–Down Loaded Content–is usually “things” that can be downloaded, often for free, from a game’s developer. In many MMOG’s DLC can be items such as enchanted swords, NPCs / companions like enchanted dwarves, or even new areas to explore like enchanted realms. The key word is “enchanted”.
Kind of odd asking about DLC in the regular F-14 forum…might want to try the “Enchanted Tomcat” thread.
Tell your beautiful Norwegian wife to slap you.
She owes me…
In normal flight, the DLC controls affect maneuvering flaps and slats (provided the sweep is forward enough to enable operation) it’s under axis and sorta works like the antenna elevation on the hornet! I am sure there are analog button controls for the DLC as well.
seems todays “patch” (reversion?) fixed the jester crash. I just blew up like thirteen bogeys and jester was singing all the way. Watching four phoenix do their thing is just glorious. Truly massive amounts of freedom.
At a million bucks a pop this taxpayer is happy that his “freedom” is now only virtual.
A million dollars each today would be a bargain given how expensive fighters are.
That would be like a $6 million missile today.
For intermediate flap positions, just move the flap lever with the mouse. Hopefully they will let you map the lever to an axis at some point.
I can’t check right now, have they fixed the Wing sweep lever problem? (it jumped from over sweep to full if you moved it with the mouse wheel)
This is a really nice bit about flaps, manuevering flaps, spoilers and DLC. (Stolen from the other forum)

Looks like that wouldn’t make sense.
In the sim, there is no reason to assign an axis to the flap control. Essentially, the landing flaps
are full up or down. In the sim, there is no need to map an axis, and holding and releasing a switch will stop the maneuvering flaps when released. Map a four way switch on the stick. Up (FWD) for retract,
Down (AFT) for extension
So I guess it’s correct as-is. As this thing has variable sweep that likely takes the place of varying flaps on other planes.
I don’t think he meant that variably applied flaps doesn’t exist, just that it isn’t necessary. There’s not a lot of pitch or drag change going from clean to full so am happy not to fiddle with it. The same guy posted a very helpful Case 1 primer which has probably already been discussed here. He flew the Tomcat and touches on aspects that DCS gets right and what can use some improvement. Seems pretty close. After reading I now do what I used to do in the BMS F-16: land HUD off. It’s way easier for me without the extra visual distraction.
Well, not for me then. I got a crash during the mission with the MIG-28s I flew today, just as I was about to merge with them the game CTD. Also every time I close the game normally it will stop responding and I have to call mr Task Manager to tidy up the mess.
Which DCS Wallpaper are you using?
The one with the Tomcat.
Change it to something else. There is a good chance that will stop the crash on exit. Worked for me. I saw it suggested on Hoggitt IIRC.
As an aside, considering how beautiful the cockpit texture and other Heatblur art is, I was surprised how that Tomcat default background pic was actually a bit underwhelming.
It was a strange choice of image. The Viggen wallpaper is awesome, and fits in well with the general DCS module wallpaper ‘style’. The Tomcat wallpaper is an odd duck.
I guess we should add… it’s early access, and so the wallpaper could change at some point. I
Its also really easy to change yourself.
It is also surprisingly a picture of an F-14D
