Imagine that horror if it turns out to be a viggen!

Once you’re in a Viper you probably wish you had the Alpha of a Hornet…
But that’s about it- the Viper is better.
Or so the story goes.

Some NSFW rhymes…

Surprised it took 42 replies for this to show up.

I know, right!
In Sweden it was either the Viggen, or…another Viggen

Jellow from “The Fighter Pilot Podcast” who has flown both jets has some great things to say about “The Viper”,Speed and excellent visibility through that bubble canopy being high on his list. The Falcon should be incredible in VR.

 I was waiting for someone to compare the Viper with another plane from the song.

Current state- I’d go with Hornet for sure. Carrier ops are a big part of the fun, with the campaign stuff pretty anemic.

Once (if) the dynamic campaign is released, it’s a tougher decisions. Carrier ops vs. bubble canopy is what a lot of it comes down too.

By then, VR 2.0 with the likes of the Reverb should be well established, so probably that means the canopy wins. But at the same time, the new carrier module should be released.

That’s a mean question!

Hornet offers a bit more payload and more options, so doing it all I’m picking the Bug. As I recall, for the F-16, only stations 3 and 7 are wired for PGMs, so that’s going to affect the Viper quite a bit. Doesn’t make it terrible, just different, and the Viper makes up for that by having greater range and endurance. We should still be able to bomb truck it as 4, 6, 3, and 7 ought to be able to take MERs with 82s. If it weren’t for the community protesting, the Viper would also only be able to equip 2 Mavericks to the 3 and 7 as well.

We have to keep in mind that the Block 50 ED is working on is primarily a SEAD/DEAD platform, so it’s going to be better for taking out ADA and not have the same expanded mission set that the Bug has to offer by design. Yeah, it can swing into CAS/CAP/Strike/etc. in a pinch, but it’s not tailored for it like a Block 40/42 is, or even as versatile as the modernized Block 60 and 70. It’ll be a very capable aircraft, but you need to think of it as a true lightweight fighter.

All said and done, the Bug will offer far more versatility and a wider mission set, which it damn well better given the performance gap between the two.

Had some flashbacks to Falcon4 there when I saw the Viper cockpit. Looking sweet!

Watched the landing video. Thought he landed short and low, but what do I know.
I can not wait for this to be released! I can not freaking wait!

I remember from Falcon 4 you had to be pretty easy on the gear, it would break all the time.

I noticed Wags did an 11deg. AoA approach then went to 13deg. on wheels down to aerobrake. I’ve always done 13deg. approach and landing since my B2B and Falcon 4 days. It’s my understanding that both are acceptable.

What AoA do you guys use?

Alwasy tried to keep up 13 at maximum… Best if between 11 and 12.

Somewhere between “runway looks too big” and “runway looks too small.”

Is everyone else…whenever Matt is taxiing in one of his videos…on the edge of their seat waiting for a quick glance over and a “hey…what’s that X doing on the ramp?” comment?
