But that HSI do.
Has it been “Officially” stated that The Hornet will be released separately and as a package with SoH Map?
Yes, but…can you pick up any life forms on sensors?
Surely separately.
Data Shines in Generations.
Brent Spiner is freaking hilarious, and this was the first time he FINALLY got to be funny in the Star Trek universe.
I somewhat disagree. He was funny SO often in TNG. Just more subtle most of the time.
Agreed.
I wish Nemesis had done well enough that the final TNG film would’ve happened as planned. I mean they wrapped it up well enough but from the hints and bits dropped by the cast over the years I think the final film was going to be a better wrap up.
The thought of Nemesis alone makes me want to curl up in some corner and weep. As a bit TNG fan it just hurts to see where Star Trek went.
Yes, but it did offer the geek dream of Picard vs Bane!
Mini Hornet Update 12-02-17
As many of you know, we’ve had to push back the Hornet start up video much longer than we had originally hoped. This has primarily been due to getting most of the Caution and Advisories at start up correct. One of the more obvious start up elements is the ”deedle-deedle” and “flight controls, flight controls” audio at right engine start up. While it would be easy to simply script it at right engine start, we need to understand exactly what causes this and make sure we account for the factors that lead to it.
2.5 → Hornet
Q: Will the Hornet come with a new Nimitz-class aircraft carrier?
A: These will be two separate modules, but we plan to provide a bundle deal that includes both. We currently plan a less-detailed version that will be a free part of DCS World.
I hope that they keep they don’t exclude players who don’t own it like they did with WWII, and that it has some pretty compelling features to justify an external module.
Really just a hint of sentiment from Eagle Dynamics expressing they’re interested in not wrecking the MP community in the name of profit would be nice.
You gotta pay the bills, but there has to be a solution more elegant than a hard block on a server using literally any paid-for assets you don’t own.
I think that’s an ok way to be honest. I’m crazy keen about Carriers so will happily pay more for more features (that maybe only a minority would be really ‘in’ to). If there is the ‘ARMA’ model of a lower def version, then it doesn’t fracture MP.

DCS: F/A-18C Hornet FAQ
Updated on 4 December 2017
Q: When will the Hornet be released?
A: We will announce the Hornet’s Early Access release date at the same time it becomes available for Pre-Purchase (sorry, no more best-estimates). The Pre-Purchase date will depend on when on when we feel we have stable build of the Hornet that provides the key Early Access features of a PFM flight model; functional engine, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, radio, lighting, caution/advisory, flight control, emergency systems; and the sensor and weapon systems as detailed here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php...4&postcount=13
Q: What weapons and sensors will be included?
A: Please consult the detailed list here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php...4&postcount=13
Q: Will carrier operations be included?
A: Basic carrier operations will be available at Early Access launch, but they will first be reliant on the carrier operations based on what we have currently for the Su-33. During the Early Access period, more detailed and realistic carrier operations of Case I, II, and III will become available.
Q: What squadrons will be available?
A: At least initially, our focus is on US Navy Hornets. This applies to skins, sensors, and weapons.
Q: Will the Hornet be released with DCS World 2.5?
A: DCS World 2.5 will be available prior to the release of the Hornet.
Q: Prior to release, what’s the best way to get a head start learning this aircraft?
A: In addition to the videos we are providing, we suggest a careful read of the F/A-18 NATOPS. https://publicintelligence.net/u-s-n...light-manuals/
Q: Can I become a Hornet beta tester?
A: Please see our post here: Beta Testing Team Membership - Official Updates - ED Forums
Q: Will the Hornet come with a new Nimitz-class aircraft carrier?
A: These will be two separate modules, but we plan to provide a bundle deal that includes both. We currently plan a less-detailed version that will be a free part of DCS World.
Q: Will the Hornet release with a manual?
A: The Hornet will release with a Hornet Early Access Guide that will instruct you on how to fly and employ the aircraft. As new features and functions are added during the Early Access phase, the guide will be updated to reflect this.
Upon release of the final product, the full manual will be released.
Q: Will the Hornet be able to share datalink information with the A-10C?
A: Once we implement Link-16, this is something we will certainly explore using the A-10C gateway datalink capability. The A-10C uses SADL, not Link-16.
Q: Will the Hornet be able to communicate with the JTAC?
A: Yes, but this will come after the initial Early Access release.
Q: Will a cockpit-view pilot be provided?
A: Yes, but probably not for the initial Early Access release.
Q: Will nuclear weapons be available for the Hornet?
A: No
Q: Will there be an option for a Hornet with no pylons?
A: Yes, but probably not for Early Access release. That will come later.
I am wondering what extra stuff they are putting in there?
Also (maybe a wishlist), but for a paid module i would hope that spawn locations would (edit) not be on parking areas of the deck, instead of launch/landing areas as we have now.
Would it be feasible to have people spawn in a lower deck and taxi to elevator to keep topside free?
Interested to know if it will encompass more than reduced visibility landing systems.
So I really, really, really don’t want to start a thing, but this is a serious concern to me. I was concerned about how the DLC system handled WWII, and in a very small way that came to pass during the fly in.
Yourself and another member didn’t have the WWII DLC. That directly effected at least two missions made by myself and another that I know of that had to be very rapidly changed at the last minute to accommodate. Right now these are tangential things to either accommodate a specific era, or in my case, try and fill a (admittedly acknowledged) lacking in AI units department (ships and flak).
Carriers are kind of a fundamental piece of carrier aviation. Are they going to do away with the existing CVN-70 model when the new CVN-74 comes out? Will the new recovery modes and operational features be included for free or behind a paywall? How will this effect the Forestall that Heatblur have indicated they’d be releasing for free? Will this be just a carrier, or more ships that are sorely lacking? I bet most of this will come out in good time, but this is a subject near to my heart and past experience with the WWII Assets model of doing things does not exactly fill me with an overabundance of confidence.
You’re more concerned by the news, and I’m less concerned by the news - so with a bit of algebra we might both be right, it’s hard to say.
I was thinking that with the news that there would be a ‘lower def’ version of an asset then it would prevent something like me not having the WWII pack, like the other night.
Put another way, I want them to spend lots of time and effort doing Carrier specific features, so having it as paid DLC makes that more likely for me. That with the news of a ‘fallback thing’ is actually double-good news
