DCS F/A-18C

The version that would have really immersed me, both as player and campaign designer, would have been the F/A-18A on the USS Coral Sea or USS Midway

But I will make due with what we will get, using some imagination and house rules.

Heck…I don’t even care about the theater or campaign or anything…how much fun is doing MP with a bunch of Mudspikers doing trips around the boat going to be? So who has the experience to be our LSO?

I think I qualify… I do shortfield for a living.
The PLASI is not that different from a meatball, and I’m Swedish, so I practically invented meatballs. The eating kind, anyway…

I’m Dutch, we have altered genes so we operate superbly on water-y environments!

One of the things I love most about the Hornet is the cockpit is so well designed, it has barely changed in 30 years of service. Unlike something like, say, the A-10, F-16 or even F-15C, if you ignore a few switches and disable some functionality you can easily convince yourself you’re in an A or C.

Lot 20 OFP 13C.

Pretty much the last full production hornet.

Lot 21 was the Last Single C Model Airframe, then LRIP Super Hornets and D Models.

One C, 14 Ds, 8 Es and 5 Fs

Take the C’s on Leathernecks Forrestal w/ the Tomcats

The “Turkey” Crews may Object

Did someone ask for an F/A 18? En route to KNZJ, not KLSV

Spent the better part of 1979 and 1980 on the Coral Maru. Launched the Alert 5 for Operation Eagle Claw. Good times… good times.

I’m very, very ok with us not getting the Midway. Heard way too many horror stories about getting aboard her in weather.

I may come back to FSX, Just for SuperHornets when the VRS F Comes out,

But I have DCS: Bug Coming Soon,
and Super Bog Block II w/ Partial EFM/Systems… so…

Still think LRIP/Lot 22 Block I Super Hornet would be Cheap to do on ED’s End, and not too classified.

-PFM would be similar, Wouldnt need a Complete from scratch, could use C as Template and adjust.
-3D Art is prolly the easiest part. New External Model, Modify the Lot 20 Cockpit to -E Lot 22 Standards.
-Update the OFP, SCS and other systems to Correct Functions/Stores.

Depending on the 3D Art and Systems, 6-8 months tops.

I’m probably going to regret buying it, but I’m pretty sure I will anyway.

Pfunk,
Obviously i don’t totally know. However i saw your post regarding the a-10c. If I’m correct the f-18 will be just as mindboggling.

I know it will be. But, it’s a Hornet.

So are we gonna put together a Mudspike Blue Angels team?

A bit of scope creep on your Super Hornet Skate?

Nope, Always had intended to have it “Flyable” privately

Drats!

The AI model will still be a welcome addition come Hornet time.
