DCS: F100 Super Sabre D

The MiG-17 is too close to the 15 for me to care, but I agree on those others. I don’t know if an A-6 will be all that fun to fly, but I know from SF2 how fun the F-100, A-7, and J-8 can be.

A-6 will require a few things to take full advantage of its capabilities. It’s almost redundant with what it can do during fair weather, but once it gets socked in? It’s in its element.

First thing, I expect some high density air defenses, because we’re going to be flying Iron Hand alongside the strike packages to really keep up that tempo. I want to be weathering an ocean of AAA. This is what the A-6 does.

Second thing, I expect some night time nap of the earth flying using its radar. The yellow brick road mission, basically.

It was only until recently that DCS started offering the kind of weather system fidelity that would make an A-6 truly usable. Once clouds and their effects are finished? Once the AI no longer sees through them? That’s when DCS will be ready for the Intruder.

There’s some pretty durn significant differences between the 17 and the 15. An afterburner, yes, but also a new wing and iirc a tailplane that doesn’t do the lethal mach tuck no more.

I think 17 vs crusader would be brilliant

MiG-15 Korea

How have we played DCS without it for this long? Come On Red Star Sims!

IDK the MiG-19 and 21 were pretty ubiquitous, too, but don’t seem to get a ton of love…
Granted the bis wasn’t perhaps the most representative of the model en masse, but it was hardly too advanced to sub for the earlier ones.

I would like to see MiG-21f-13 one day (bis really cant sub here)

I mean I am all for variants of particular frames in dcs. would rather see variant of F-16 or P-51 than F-15 or F-35

The Bis is a heavier, more complex fighter than the earlier MiG-21s, and you can almost feel how much better the earlier ones would have been to fly and fight when you fly the Bis in DCS!

I like the -19. It’s a solid fighter, and the module is pretty well done. Obviously wish it had things like a pilot model in the cockpit…

Yes, much of our assumptions of MiG-21 performance are based off of US experiences with the type over Southeast Asia and Have Doughnut.

Many times I have seen someone reference the Have Doughnut report in regards to our Fishbed while neglecting that the Have Doughnut Fishbed was an F-13. Sexy as hell, but less power and weight as well as nothing in regards to flexibility.

The MiG-21bis we have is very much a tactical fighter more than it is an interceptor. It has optimizations and capabilities in the air-to-ground arena that the F-13 was lacking in. So, when you hear former Air Commodore Surendra “Bundal” Tyagi talk about his accuracy with iron bombs out at the range?

It’s not because the F-13 was particularly good at it, it’s because Bundal was obscenely talented at his job. He might’ve been the best Fishbed jockey that ever strapped it on.

While Tyagi was undoubtedly a god among men in terms of employing the MiG, I suspect the MiG with its tailed delta planform probably was more stable in the dive delivery than the Hunter, not to throw any shade on the Hunter of course!

It makes me very, very, very sad that we’ll probably never see one in DCS, if the current lay of the land continues as projected.

I’m not sure if trying to simulate post-War British engineering in DCS would be easier, or harder. Speaking as somebody who was traumatized as a kid working on Triumphs and Jaguars.

Being always broke we used to work on our cars too; friend of a friend brought by a Triumph (to fix what I don’t recall); I remember thinking, “huh?”, when trying to find things on it. It was one of these TR-7 or -8, not sure. Been a while:
