That’s a good idea - @BeachAV8R, we could put a couple of Paladin’s (or MLRS M270’s?) at Sohar for some softening. Be nice to see these puppies firing (from a respectful distance)…

Can I hire an SAS team to go take out that SA-11? Now it’s personal.

Fujairah has an MLRS…I haven’t gotten to see it fire yet. But yeah…we can probably put some arty down there at Sohar. We might even be able to command it to fire on the SA-11 site with CA commands…

Do you need troop transport yet to physically take over an area.
I think I would be better off doing what o do best than prang some expensive jets. Or I could just make the coffee like Ewan McGregor in BHD

We’ve not figured it out, but the game engine can use and talks about the C-130 for transport and even more violent things like MOAB dropping and SPECTRE support.

There is a C-130 mod here:
https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/252075-dcs-super-hercules-mod-by-anubis/

We could then enable this doohickey

If you want to try it then we could try adding a mission for it, and set it to a client slot?

I wouldn’t worry about losing anything or crashing metal - the AI has basically lost the GDP of a small nation so far just on Carrier deck accidents.

alrighty then! I was afraid you were going to have to make edits to progress the turns like daily or so. But if you can keep a turn going for like a week or so and you don’t see an issue then I don’t have any concerns

Oh - yeah, I’m sorry I misunderstood you. Yes indeed each turn will have a limited amount of time on the server. What that time will ultimately be probably depends on the complexity of the campaign and the length of the window of the per turn Air Tasking Order (ATO). The server will not run continuously with an uninterrupted mission for a week…but will likely maybe have 1 or 2 missions with “windows” maybe every other day or so…for as long as it takes to win (or lose!) the overall campaign.

Last night we got smoked by the SA-11 which was operating in some sort of wily passive mode. Both me and @Fridge took hits which left @fearlessfrog to shoot down 3 enemy aircraft, shoot a self protect HARM, and retreat back to the boat. Only to find a Tomcat stuck waiting for the waist cat… He managed to squeeze on to the right side of the landing zone and catch a wire. The rain was really a cool atmosphere…but pretty tough to operate in.

Yeah, that mission was like a horror movie - all my friends getting picked off one by one, so every time I turned around there was a quiet ‘eek’ and then one less in the flight. Those SA-11 with IADS are pretty smart, and I’m not flying over a ‘dead’ site like that again. I didn’t realize they could self-track like that at all.

I say we nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure… :alien:

A B-52 can be bought for like $50M or something…

And is going to DLAB against a Buk. What you need my friend is an F-117.

About to figure out the answer to the question ‘Is there any problem JSOWs can’t solve?’

Our last two missions…got busted up pretty good by SA-11s and then came back for some revenge with JSOWs…

Definitely making progress! Even though the Al Minhad front is in DEFENSIVE posture, it is still advancing. And the Al Ain front is moving rapidly to the west even though it is too is in DEFENSIVE. I think they have just destroyed most of the units between the coast and those SA-11 sites. There are big mountains between the present line and Al Ain…so interested to see how the campaign handles that.

We have pulled to evenly matched on ground forces…but that air asset mismatch is troubling. Once we kill those SA-11s we definitely need some SWEEP and OCA strikes…

We missed you @Fridge! It was a great button pushing exercise as @fearlessfrog walked me through JSOW employment…! We even managed to confirm that the CBU variant works.

MAGPIE is officially completely dead and removed. FISH is damaged with I think just four TELs still alive. We launched 8 JSOWs at it and it worked like a charm. A single TOMCAT escort flight kept the fighters off us…I think he took our a few MiGs and left us to do our (easy) work. We headed back to the coast and then turned back to engage some Su-17s being escorted by F-5s…so we did put the “multi” in “multi-role” this afternoon…!

Al Ain is looking pretty attractive as a target for taking over. We have almost zero enemy forces in the way between Sohar and Al Ain…maybe our northern front is taking up all their resources. The only threat we really saw of significance was a platoon of T-72s…so we may do some BAI at the airfield. The SA-11 could still be a threat to the south but the airfield itself I think only has stuff like SA-9 / ZSU…

That was a nice clean mission, and it felt like our CAP did the work there. The flying suitcases worked great and we probably didn’t need to double up (but glad we did anyway, as nice to see MAGPIE finally dead dead).

For what’s next, not really sure. Lots of choices.

  • It’s good weather it seems, plus meant to be next turn, so we could BAI up a bit - AGM-65F’s, JDAMs or GBUs in TOO mode at Al Ain Intl to help that front. It really depends on how active their CAP is.

  • Talking of which, we could OCA the runway as part of a preparation mission. So much of their aircraft seem to start there, that it would really help to have time to sort ground targets. We could even throw a BROACH JSOW early, wait for it to hit and then push in with BAI stuff.

  • We could clean up the remaining SA-11 TE Launcher units, although they should be south enough from Al Ain Intl to be quiet for us now? We could task a Harrier flight for it maybe?

  • After the above then move the SOHAR front to aggressive? I’m wondering those 6 x T-72B’s will move out from their Base Defense job if the front gets too close? No idea…

  • Bomb the Runway First and Wait
  • Ground Attack the Base Defenses First
  • Clean up the SA-11 First

I think we can put SOHAR to aggressive now because they only move a certain distance per turn I think…and they are several turns away from capturing Al Ain. So I’d vote OCA the runway and kill the T-72s - our armor won’t get there for a few turns anyway. I haven’t had a chance to look at the post-flight inventories, but we might need to spend our money once again on Harriers and Hornets.

If I knew the B-52H was effective we could buy one of those for $35M and let it carpet bomb Al Ain as we fly CAP with it. I have zero idea of how B-52s work in the game though…so I’m not sure we can trust the B-52 to just do a one pass strike and then return to base. It sure would be fun to watch though…!

I voted to take out the Sam’s but as I am not directly involved ignore my vote
Kill the runway instead :f14:

Probably works as well as the B-17s. Needs to have the advanced waypoint bombing action to “above x-ft altitude” most likely. I find that I have to do a lot of advanced waypoint action tweaks to the Liberation AI to get them to function properly.
