I’m so so happy I could cry. I love this chopper so much already and I’ve not even got it started yet.

I thank you very much once again. You know who I mean. Thanks.

Oh man. It looks like my 1080Ti has died during my 3-month hiatus from my PC. The machine starts with the old 970 but not with the 1080Ti. :frowning:

In soviet Russia, helicopter pilot needs fuel too.

Also love that beast.

Whys it so much easier to hover than the hip. What’s the deal? Is it because I’m more experienced now or is it genuinely easier.

I’m on my 3rd airframe so far. I was on my 30th in the hip in the same time frame.

I. Bloody. Love. It.

Automatic assist. Not that I am saying your not a better pilot as well

It’s still a heavy beast of a thing. Jesus it’s fast. But it’s 100 percent easier than the hip. It’s not as reasonable as the huey but I’m enjoying it far more so far. The dude in the front seat is an awful pilot

My God this cockpit’s Ginormous!!! I think it’s more spacious than my first studio apartment in Chicago

See you soon on the field of play my Yankee Friend…Muhuhuhaaaaa!!!

Does anyone have a quick and dirty workflow on setting up the gun so as to be fire-able from the pilot seat? Thanks

Nevermind! Got it. I failed the “Fire Control” switch step.

I managed to shoot up some targets on the Syria range. Bogawful accuracy with the rockets, but that gun is sniper-grade. Love it! I reckon with a healthy dollop of vodka and some repetition, I might ‘git gud’ with the rockets as well.

I managed to land it back on the base, but that was not a landing to be proud of lol! Machine still in one piece, so that’s something

What a motherhellbeast eh. Devils chariot indeed.

@Bearhedge condolences on the 1080ti mate. Can’t you see if there’s anything wrong with it? loose solder point, wire loose, thing like that?

Ok.

I’ve been at it all evening now. Got 3 or 4 good hours of circuits and general handling in. No weapons yet as I clearly need to RTFM.

It’s excellent. A truly sublime module. Definitely my favourite Helicopter module and probably in my top 3 on DCS overall.

Ground handling, takeoff and translate sideways are bloody difficult. Like super hard.
I HATE the trimmer. But I love the trim hat in flight for small adjustments. I think I will get used to it. But having to let go of the stick so fast especially with no curves or deadzones set up yet makes it very unstable. This will get better.

Landing, easy. Genuinely find it quite easy to plonk it down as long as you stay in control and don’t let your VS go to high.

Circuit is lovely. Very relaxing. Bit of a killer if you lose your speed on base leg, VRS sneaks in and is easy to overtake you.

I have no idea how to drive the Co pilot, weapons or other bits and bobs till I’ve read the manual.

Tries different weights and fuel loads and it’s got a great feeling of momentum and mass when fully freighted and fueled.

I’ve crashed twice from just looking at the 3d model in F2 which is a good thing. It’s gorgeous.

I bloody love it. Its totally worth the weight. 100 percent recommend the purchase.

I. Have. A. Hind.

1 more thing, does anyone feel totally fricking badass flying around in it or is it just me? It radiates this feeling of pure power and malevolent energy that I seriously dig. I am a little overexcited about it

Nah mate, is not just you. It’s just the chaddest of chad machines. From the cavernous cockpit to the sound of it to the feel and weight, the cyka blyat blyat gun and the simple fact that it’s been featured prominently in all “the Russians are coming” nightmare as the symbol of mother Russia having decided that it’s goan wreck your stuff since the early 80s.

It’s about on a par with the F-14 on badassitude imo.

I’ll have a look today, see if there’s something obvious going on. I’m miffed as that was the one part I was hoping to carry over from my old PC to a new build in the near future.

Oh well, might just need to prepare to dig a bit deeper in the pocket - I’ll probably end up quite happy about the whole thing, just was hoping to delay the expense a bit longer!

At the end of the day, it was a factory rebuilt card so I got it fairly cheap and I got a bit over 3.5 good years out of it, effectively extended the life of my old PC by the same amount.

@Victork2 there is a peddle damper for taxiing, it’s to the right on front dash covered by a red cover.

Does anyone find the controls to be a bit heavy? I wonder if they tuned it to handle better with a standard short-throw stick. I run a 20cm extension which gives me really good precision for fine movements in the Mi-8, but in the Mi-24 I’m finding myself throwing the stick almost to my knees to get a good bank going.

Good god… in multiplayer this Hind is really something. A few screenies from tonight’s mission… minutes before all hell broke loose over Al Qusayr.

In addition to the weapons “gang bar” on the left side of the gunner’s pit, we must flip up the “Fire Control” switch located on the bottom left of the armament panel forward of the cyclic. To fire the cannon, rotate the weapons selector to 3 o’clock.
