DCS Mission Talk - PVE Capture the Base Incursion

I have, it reset about 30 mins ago, so I think it’s on something like a 10 12 hour cycle? Not sure. All the targets are back and the server is empty.

One discovery I did make that is very helpful for a ground attack is that there are pre-defined waypoints all set up for us to use. The Basel Al-Assad airport is waypoint 18. Cool, no typing!

Hmm, I wonder if we would survive a deep strike mission, where we identify where their CAP comes from (maybe a couple of airfields in the East) and then we try to ruin the runway? If we survived the SAMs with self protect mode and got some craters down it could work? I wonder where those M-2000’s or F-16’s take off from?

I’m getting on now…not sure how long I can stay (probably until I hear an “I’m hungry” wail from the kids…)

@fearlessfrog Frog and I did some damage along the coastline…SA-11, SA-5s x 2 down I think, and the ships in the harbor damaged…along with a few MiG-29s and F-14s…(at the cost of a couple of ours)…

I took some AAA and got a fuel leak. Got under 1000lbs of fuel a long way from the boat so tried to glide it in. Got in the groove with 300lbs left. Hit the deck with 30(!) on the fuel display. Boltered. :crying_cat_face:

I have that on video… We were all rooting for you! Definitely need a rig the barrier option!

I feel I’m the bloopers reel for Mudspike :film_strip:

I was shocked it glided so well and for so long. I had half flaps down in final to keep the speed up and figured I must have screwed up the AOA with the trim. At least I ditched within sight of the boat, and like you said at the time, I should have just crashed into the Tarawa as a last middle finger to the marines?

Nah…I think I have your epic F-16, Su-24, F-14 triple kill dogfight on video too… Of course it is all on the F10 map and I’m blabbing like an auctioneer… That was pretty damn amazing…

Without audio would be good, mainly because I remember shouting ‘Fox Something!’ as was having trouble remembering my foxes lol

They really do need different names. Fox. Platypus. Porcupine.

Fox two and three aren’t that hard to keep apart, aren’t they? And you can always throw the book back at The Man and just yell Advanced Medium Rang Air to Air Missile out!

I get the one and two reversed when surrounded for some reason, it’s a stress reaction. A numbering scheme based on the historical order the missiles came into service is a bit odd - is that why they are like that?

Oh no it’s nothing as fancy as that. Just pure arbitrary numbering. I agree, different words would have been better. Sparrow, 'winder and slammer.

Hee, hee…I’ve heard this on guard, and from trainees, in the past. Comes out something like, “Gaazzabadt…”. Brain out-racing the mouth, or visa-versa.

I’m gonna scream “Rifle 2” tonight when I launch a HARM.

That reminds me, what’s an anti-ship like the Harpoon - I just made a whale noise.

Buster, vampire, something like that?

I seem to recall from a Tom Clancy book that vampires were indeed inbound anti-ship missiles. I don’t know what outbound ones are (extroverted vampires?)…

Antiship missile call is “Bruiser”. But I think everybody will get your gist if you scream Poon…TANG at the top of your lungs when you let fly.
