DCS Monitor

Exactly Elby, looking forward to that day

Thx for tip, will check that one. But tend to think that I will settle on something like 22", max 24". Will check Benq offering also in that range.

I have a Samsung CF791 34 inch at 3440x1440. It’s very immersive and I can’t imagine having anything less than that. My tip is buying as big as you possibly can. 4k is not a must!

Another idea is to buy a 40 inch 1080p TV.

I recently decided to switch to a 42 " 1080P for DCS and I love it. Was some resetting of my TrackIR involved but other than that its been hassle free and a great experience.

32′ inch, UHD 4K, 2.2ft. Distance

This is for those who want a 4K gaming monitor for PS5. A 32-inch 4K gaming monitor goes well for PC as well as console gaming. But for placing a 32-inch gaming monitor, you need some extra space on your desk. If you have enough space and distance between the eyes and screen, you can definitely opt for a 32′ inch gaming monitor.

If you don’t have desk space for a 32-inch gaming monitor, make sure you get VESA Wall Mount compatible gaming monitor so that you can install the monitor on the wall. Also, don’t get 32′ 1440p or 1080p resolution. It will ruin the experience by pixelating the resolution.

You have look out here best 32 inch gaming monitor

Ugh … I have no idea why anyone would want a 4K monitor less than 55ā€ in this day and age. It boggles my mind.

VR baby, monitor is for booting it up and spamming mudspike.

Yep, when I get my new man cave up and built I’m going to have a 32 inch monitor for the very reason @schurem described. I’ll sit on the sofa in the living room with a controller and my TV for other games, but for simming it’s got to be VR and a small monitor going forward

Considering the subject of this thread is ā€œDCS Monitorā€, I find that statement to be hyperbolic and elitist.

I like the best of both worlds … 55ā€ minimum 4K monitors AND VR and I think the reason some people like VR so much is because they’re tired of squinting at their tiny 34ā€ ultrawide monitors LOL! Don’t think I have bad vision either … with my contacts in I sometimes surprise optometrists with my 20/15 vision.

Lets face it, getting a nice clear smooth picture in VR is VERY expensive and VR literally makes some people sick. Enter the $400 55ā€ 4K monitor! Poof! It’s like magic, man!

You’re not wrong…
I had a 21:9 34ā€ curved screen, before getting into VR. The 34ā€ was really cool, but the Rift CV1 blew it away.

But given my penchant for flightsim controller hardware and cockpit building, I’d probably like a 3 projector curved screen, or even 3 big TV screens, even more than VR. Which brings me to a big VR advantage. It’s a space saver! I could never fit the cockpit setup that I want, in our house.

Didn’t mean to come off like that. If I did, I’m properly shamed. Still, for DCS, I find nothing beats VR. But that’s just like, my opnion man.

Honest question, not in any way to fan the flames. But why is this elitist? I agree that for a DCS specific machine that I’m intending to build in the future, a smaller screen is a better solution. I don’t see any reason that this is an elitist or hyperbolic statement. For me, firing up the pc long enough to get my rift working does not need a 55 inch screen anymore.

My other gaming needs are on my 55inch tv in the other room and sitting on my sofa with my x box pad nice and comfy.

But for a DCS specific build like I am aiming for and @schurem uses I seriously don’t see this as being elitist at all.

Surely saying a massive 4k 55inch TV is a requirement rather than a smaller is by definition elitist. I don’t really understand what your swinging at here to be honest

I don’t know if I’m helping, but that doesn’t keep me from trying…
@Elby didn’t write that it is elitist. He wrote that he finds it elitist.
Which means that it’s not fact, it’s opinion.

Please don’t think I’m taking it personally, I just don’t understand the reasoning and am trying to work out what he meant. No harm given or taken. I just don’t understand how wanting something less big and expensive and subjectively worse performing could be considered as elitist.

Well, did he say that…?
The statement he reacted to was

When everybody knows that you don’t need a monitor to boot and spamming mudspike is much better on an iPad…

Or, it could be just @schurem and his way of expressing himself in his usual exuberant way and @Elby responding in kind.

I don’t know…? Maybe?

Geez, you guys have me overthinking it now LOL!

Hey @Troll, if you’re going to run three 4K monitors in the future, you might need another 3090.

Never mind. It really doesn’t matter does it.
