DCS sale

The F5 is interesting to fly too. It feels like you are balanced on a knife edge, especially if you get slow.

The Fw190 it’s extremely cool as it has all the taste of a proper WWII warbird with the fantastic german technique.
What’s that you ask?
Simply put it has a mechanical computer that keeps all the best settings with just the push of a single lever- throttle.
So no need to worry about anything- pretty cool.
Also all the guns are grouped really close to the longitudinal axis so all the firepower it’s really concentrated.

I shouldn’t but I really love it.

Interesting points on the Dora, @komemiute. But I think I’ll hold off on any ww2 modules untill atleast normandy comes out and we get an updated damage model. I’ve got the pony and the kürfurst but they can be frustrating to get kills with, despite hits.

@PaulRix I have not adopted VR yet. I do plan on adopting a gen 2 set though. Glad to hear it’s great in VR for when the time is right then! But then again I have to hope my R9 290 can power such a device. The F-5 seems interesting but it goes for double the rate of the MiG-15. So I guess that’s gonna be the one then.

VR will be there waiting when you get to it. I guarantee that you will ask yourself why on Earth you held off though.

Regardless of VR I think you will love the little MiG. The Museum Relic campaign is great too. Well worth the money.

Smart choice. I concur.
Still, the sound you get when in a Dora and you merge in dogfight with a Mustang…

Steam Sale is up!

These days… is it still posible to buy something DCS on steam and use it with standalone ver?

I actually have no idea, good question!

I’m not sure if it still is but you should to be able to transfer anything released before the mirage.
They may have dropped StarForce all together by now though.

@NineLine do you have some knowledge about this? thx

I think this covers it…

Can I activate my DCS World Module purchased on Steam on DCS World Standalone(Non-Steam)?

Yes, only DCS keys for modules releases on Steam before 12th May 2017 can be used on DCS stand alone.

New Modules bought on STEAM from 12th May 2017

Please note from 12th May 2017 DCS: M-2000C and all future DCS World DLC releases on Steam, will now use Steam Keys instead of Starforce keys. As such, these purchases cannot be activated on the DCS World e-Shop version. Previous purchases will not be affected.

There’s a list of modules in the link above which were released post 12th May 2017 that wont work on the standalone

Ok, together with this it make sense I think

New modules purchased in E-shop F/A-18C, AV-8B, campaigns P-51D Charnwood and AJS-37 Viggen: 16-2 Red Flag have No serial number because of the new protection system. Your successful order in E-shop means that you have access to this module.

I mean I thought that the protection was also changed retrospectively but that doesnt seems to be the case.

So applicable to steam - there are steam modules prior to May 12th '17, there are modules past this date.

Seriously considering the Hawk at that price point, strictly for storytelling purposes…

I don’t own the hawk, but I’ve read it has some serious issues. May have been fixed though. Something about wind and taxiing.

They said that they wanted to update older modules to the new protection system, just not initially. Probably takes a bit of meddling with the innards.

Dont waste your money. Long list of issues with the module and even longer list with the Dev. Save your frustration.

Well, you are in for a treat. The Mi8 takes two dozen beautiful steps just to get off the ground. They all have something to teach.

The Harrier at 50% off may be the most bang for your buck in all of DCS. C101 may be worth it also considering all the updates its received lately.

Even though everyone loves to hate it, I would recommend the Gazelle at 50% off. I really enjoy flying it, and the campaign that comes with it is one of the better ones.

Ditto. You’re flying the stability augmentation system, not a straight mechanical connection to the rotor system, like in a UH-1. It’s not perfect, but I really enjoyed it, and the campaign especially.

This article does a great job of describing what I’m talking about: No Hands - Rotor & Wing International
