AAR practice at various alts and set ups.
What I’ve discovered is that stores make it a little tougher to fall into formation with the tanker, but they do effectively help dampen your inputs while in formation, perhaps even acting like a keel in the same way gear does on approach.
The first shot is from 15,000ft MSL, @ 500 true. It was real squirrely.
Second shot is at 25,000ft @ 500 true. Still squirrely, but a lot easier.
The last three are following USAF indicated parameters of FL300, 315 indicated, .83 mach. I could almost describe that as being easy.
You know, I’m starting to think this USAF might know a thing or two.
FL300/315KIAS, is that specifically for Phantoms? I’ve been trying low-mid 20s at around 290-300KIAS in other modules and find it hard for even a Tomcat or Viper to catch up with unless they’re already light on stores and gas.
You need one throttle in afterburner when flying with a useful bombload.
Yeah, that’s what it specifically listed for F-4Es.
I got my sourcing here:
Also, USAF recommends closure as being +20 indicated. These don’t appear to be controlled charts, since this is for international use. Also, they were on the ED forum and didn’t get 1.6’d.
Man, wish I had this when I was building my sandboxes. The optimum Mach in particular is a lifesaver so I don’t have to calculate TAS from CAS for the mission editor.
Dude, holy f**k, these look like real… it took me all of 10 seconds to recognize it’s DCS.
These go in my windows desktop folder ASAFP.
EDIT: I can’t stop freaking out at the first two… they are all great but the first two are literally f***ing up my brain so good.
The flightsims of today beats the picture quality of my boy-room posters.
Oh hell yeah! better than the pre-rendered intro from the past games too!
Yeah. Remember thinking if flightsims would ever look that good… Pfftt!
A few from the “Beware! Beware!” campaign.
Finally decided to ‘break the seal’ on it. Was holding off, as after that there’s slim pickings for the single player spitfire pilot who wants some campaign flying.
Spiraling down (in the third mission I think) to come to the aid of our leader -
ended up way too fast, pulled up right before pancaking and ended up with this
Flew back home using rudder trim! Highly dubious but it was a weirdly satisfying 20 minutes.
Last one, no idea if it’s the new haze at work or what but liked the light.

first impressions bagdad is big … with more water and greenery than I expected, textures look good, detailed buildings (and a lot of them) FPS stable at 72 even down low
