DCS Strait of Hormuz Map

Well the gap will be getting narrower as we approach true photorealism in computer graphics.

DAMNIT TO HELL! I live about 150 km from the edge of the Map. If only Qatar had been included. And now to stretch it out a little more, Bahrain is home to the biggest U.S. Naval base in the middle east. Its hard to believe its not included.
Maybe if the Qatar embargo by the GCC gets ugly enough ED will include Qatar and Saudi. (JOKING). After all, a senior security official in the UAE has called for the bombing of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera, accusing it provoking a bomb and gun assault on a mosque in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Last month Saudi released a provocative video of a Saudi fighter shooting down a Qatar airliner. Its getting hot in here folks. However, the truth is Qatar is Awesome. As an American I LOVE it here. The only thing that has changed since the embargo… They ran out of Tonic for a while, so no Gin and Tonic. Also the price of good Orange Juice is about 15 dollars a quart… So I buy oranges and make my own.
All joking aside, I cant wait to get my hands on this map.

ED wanted to include it, but didn’t just to spite you

Some days you get the Bear and some days the bear gets you. In spite of it all, I am not going anywhere. I’m just eating my pop corn waiting for the Tomcat, the MiG-19 and the Typhoon. In the meantime I just keep killing trucks in the Harrier. Mavericks are FUN!

Seems there’s been a Name Changeā€¦ā€œDCS Persian Gulfā€

_from Sith DCS: Persian Gulf? - Page 2 - DCS: Persian Gulf - ED Forums
ā€œ_That is the glass half empty thought, the glass half full takes the map from being locked into just the Strait of Hormuz and makes the possibilities of expansions to the map fit the name. I like to think ED is always thinking ahead.ā€

If i’m not mistaken, the 2.0 maps have infinite terrain capability, leaving open the very possibility of an expanded SoH to include Iraq/Kuwait. Phantom Fury re-enactment anyone?

I like the way you think!!
_also…How soon after DCS World 2.5 drops does this map roll into Pre-Purchase mode??? _

I’m not sure, but they did say during an interview that more maps were being introduced this year. I think SoH/Persian Gulf is the only one I’ve heard of.

And for the love everything holy, can they just release a blank water template??

Especially for realistic carrier ops, when you’d really be hundreds of miles from the nearest land.

I don’t want to sound arrogant, but how hard is it really to make a 100% water only map? Plus it would probably run great.

Honest question, but what is wrong with using the middle of the Black Sea if all you want is open water?

In my case it’s not big enough. If you’re trying to simulate a scenario where one side needs to find and engage the other, a single awacs can find just about anything in the water if you place it in the middle of the map. I’ve currently got backfires evading over Ankara and Nikopol.

Plus I think the added tension of find the carrier and land or die might be fun.

Two carrier groups, limited AI resources like e-2 and tankers, imagine blue flag but on the open seas. Sink the opposing carrier to win.

Think of the poor advertising underlings in charge of that one…"Well…This is Water…(next)…this is Water…(next)…

I think it’s both Hilarious and feasible. And witty.
