I just leave my throttle mapped normally. I do have a collective, and that is obviously setup to pull for power, but why mess with the rest of my reflexes?
The strangest bug has occurred after installing 1.1. When I load the helo in a mission, there is no visible model except the gauges…and only some of them (digital).
Also, the aircraft will fall through the ground unless I “catch” it with collective. The flight model still works and feels much improved…I think. Any ideas?
I would try re-installing the mod. Delete the UH-60L folder in your \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft folder first.
Agree. I’d delete the old install and copy the new version into the path above. If that fails, download and unzip the archive again.
Following up on this - my issue is that I had downloaded the main GitHub repository as opposed to the release zip. Fail on me.
Good old Github making users question their sanity. I hate that website ![]()
Good series of videos with a former CW3 Black Hawk pilot.
Version 1.2 released.

Version 1.3 released. I tried the new FM and IMHO it feels like there is a little bit more inertia in all axis. But that might be because I’ve been flying the Apache so much.

FYI, there is an update to the Armed Blackhawk mod. Info and links to both the mod and the new user’s guide in the SubMod–Armed-UH-60-Mod section of the UH-60L mod team’s Discird.
This channel has how-to videos.
TLDR: there is a new version release of the UH-60L, v2.x, with quite a few changes. Distribution has moved to Patreon (still free). The ED forum OP and Discord are still good, but until further notice, no third party mods are supported yet.
Highlights
- New flight model (much more responsive)
- Door gunners
- DAP variant with weapons
- Pilot models improved
- Rotor disc effects
- FFB support (enable on the Special Options menu)
- 3D remains unchanged other than that mentioned above, so custom v1.x liveries should still work.
- I needed to rebind controls. YMMV.
With the DAP and door gunners, you can at least look like a Night Stalker.
Download at the bottom of this Patreon page. You will need a Patreon login. The second installer is if you don’t want to use the new installer and want to keep using your own mod manager. Why use the installer? Because it automates updates and drops the door gunner script in the correct location. But nice to have options.
Announcement
So, I’ve had time to adjust to the new FM, which is said to be physics based, rather than table derived. TLDR: leave all of the magic on, except FPS, which seems to fight you below around 60 kts. IRL, it’s left on most of the time, but I get along better without it. In cruise, it will keep the pedal input coordinated in turns. Otherwise, I quite like the new FM. With the Moza AB9, I’m using the same preset that I made for the Chinook, and it seems to work well.
For fun, I created an Into the Jungle mission with the DAP version, minus the DAP, complete with miniguns on the doors, 19 x 2.75" rockets on the inboard pilons and smoke rockets on the outers ![]()
I’ll have to disagree on this one. Just hold the trim release button down (like you’re flying the KA-50) when you’re under 60 kts and it’ll leave you alone. Having it on makes the rest of the flight envelope damn near FBW simple, so I’d highly recommend getting used to it. The Blackhawk has microswitches on the pedals that deactivate the FPS when pressed, so if you’re doing pedals turns etc it wont fight you in reality. Just get used to hitting the trim release when using the pedals and life is wonderful ![]()
Now we’re talking! Honestly as far as weapon load goes, dual mini guns and 4 rocket pods is basically the Cobra. Not quite as maneuverable or fast, but about as close as we’re going to get for the moment.
Good info jenrick. Have you flown the current version of this mod yet?
I have, I was glad they mentioned the heading hold being active under 60kts in the manual or it would have tripped me up too.
A few nitpicks on it, the weight of the M230 pod and the 12 shot rocket pods appear to be way too low. Second there does not appear to be a switch/dial to turn down the switch lighting to be more NVG friendly. Third, I’d appreciate having the short ESSS stub wings for when you’re not loaded for bear (as shown below).
Besides that, it’s a hoot. I’ve been very slowly working on a campaign about the AH-60L Arpia II, which was the steam gauge version without the FLIR, targeting pod, etc. Only thing really missing to do it up completely is a second set of door gunners on GAU-19’s, but honestly for DCS purposes the M134’s work reasonably well.
Oh hell yeah jenrick. Good find.
Agree on the short ESSS stub wings. Hopefully, there will be the option one day.
What is the 20mm gun mounted below the M134?
Found this one today too.
That’s the M230 30mm chain gun, same as what’s on the Apache.
The go160th and USASOAC channels both have some good stuff!
Awe jez, why bring a 20 when you can bring a 30? ![]()
EDIT: I see that you can add the M230 to the DAP version on the pilons. Get some!
