Could go crazy and go with group b cars
Is anyone here Elby? Want to make sure I’m not just oking a random user. If your name is vastly different than on here, just let me know, pm me if you’d rather do that instead of posting here.
I found my G27, but not the pedals, so I used some old ones from a Driving Force GT that I was saving for my brother. Then I went through that silly thing with the G27 that doesn’t show it correctly in the profiler. Sorted that out and headed to the MUDSPIKE Rally New Zealand. I am really rusty driving a rally car, but made it through 4 stages before heading to bed. I left my wheel on the default settings for both the Logitech Profiler and Dirt Rally 2, but they were not bad really. Slogged through the first 3 stages not really finding my rhythm, especially feeling rough in the night stage, but finally got fl flowing in stage 4, which was more open, if not a little wet. Fun rally so far. We need @adlabs6 to jump in here and show us how it’s done.
Thanks for tacking up the server @Mudcat. Felt good getting dirty again. Settings seemed fine to me.
Made it through 6 stages. First stage was a little rough. Then my rythum came back.
That 3rd stage was great! I loved it.
I love tight turning stages.
All seems good. I like the spacing of the rest stops. All though peaking ahead stage 9 and 10 are going to be rough!
Good stuff
EDIT: Finished the rally
Stage 9 and 10 sucked! Flat tires in both stages. Last stage was great fun!
Everything settings wise felt good. I think maybe put the long runs right before a service stop.
As for suggestions,
Sweden with Group B
Germany with R5
Monte Carlo with H3 rwd
League request sent…! Now to decide if I want to break out my wheel or go with X-Box controller…
Are you guys just diving in or are your practicing offline the stage - what is the consensus? Back when we were doing the Mudspike Golf Club I used to just blindly go into the courses since I found that to be fun. But maybe this is slightly different…I would assume Rally drivers give at least a low speedish run through the course once to allow their navigators to make their direction books or whatever they call them. I don’t even know what that dude is barking out…my ears only perk up when he says “Dominos Pizza - 300 meters”…
I have always just jumped in, I semi pay attention to my co driver, once Im in rhythm I can act on his notes without thinking about it. And I know i understand him because at least once a stage I yell that ain’t a 4 right at him.
As for the controller vs wheel, I have never found Dirt rally easy with a controller. A wheel just feels better
Oh my…I’m a stunning bad Rally driver…haha… I think I have a grand total of 24 minutes of play time in DiRT Rally 2.0. One of those games I bought and just haven’t gotten around to playing. Jeez…it is stunningly gorgeous. Those dust particle effects are amazing. Guess if you are going to name your game “DIRT” you probably do focus on getting that part right huh? The lighting and environments are gorgeous though. Played in 2D just to give it a whirl…X-Box controller works fine, but I might want to try my wheel with it. I used auto shifting and picked a random New Zealand track. I don’t own all the DLC - I can’t remember what package I bought.
This is what my Steam page is showing I’ve got in whatever pack I bought…
Ended up in a stream here…haha…
This ain’t no racin’ league. It’s some old fighter pilots dusting off their wheels and driving a rally car for a change. But if you are asking the controller question, you might want to go practice New Zealand a little bit. I’d die with a controller, although have been beaten by them a few times.
In my case, I had tried out the Senna MP24 mod for Asseto Corsa a few months ago, then put my wheel away so well that I couldn’t find the pedals. Hooked everything up, tried a half of New England stage to make sure it was working, then dove into the rally using the default settings for the G27.
Wow…it’s brilliant in VR…! I was able to run the preset HIGH setting. Preset ULTRA worked pretty well too…but I think HIGH is adequate enough.
So at this point in the game is when it should switch over to Spintires: MudRunner right?
Accepted all requests, I’ll sort em out later if needed
That Castrol BMW looks fantastic on dirt and in the woods.
i believe if you buy the deluxe 2.0(seasons 3+4) dlc you will have everything but maybe 2 cars or something like that.
I had the same stuff as you and had $12 to spend so I bought it and now have almost everything.
I managed terminal damage in rally 2x, both times from the same error. After driving like a goon who didn’t know what he was doing through the first 2 stages, I made it through with my lights intact for stage 3.
After repairing what I could and taking a penalty to repair more, I busted my suspension on Stage 4. I believe I forgot to change my tires…
So how did I still continue till stage 10? Racenet
It failed to connect, I figured I was done anyway so just closed out. If you get a connection error keep trying otherwise it won’t record what happened and give you the “time out” time for the stage, without recording the data.
After finding out, this meant I wasn’t finished I soldiered on, destroying my car more and more along the way. I’m confident that the only reason I survived the uphill night stage in the rain was because my engine and gearbox were so badly damaged that I couldn’t go fast enough to crash.
I finally found my groove though on Stage 9 and my car was repaired enough that I was making decent time. Right up till the last stretch of the stage, I was getting a bit cocky and wound up clipping the bank which sent me spinning. Not much damage but killed the time.
Stage 10 and more repairs. I was ready for the final stretch, but was all over the road again and wound up flipping and got terminal suspension damage.
I forgot to change my tires at the rest stop yet again.
Drivers I accepted but can’t match specifically by name.

Let me know who you are please otherwise I will adjust memberships before the next test on Monday.
You might want to practice. I tried to just jump in and wrecked the car on turn 3
Sorry if I missed the post. There are 12 stages in the event. Are they all New Zealand or a bunch of random?
All NZ. Just running a test event or 3 first.
Question for @Mudcat, I understand that a rally in DR2 Clubs, you are not actually hosting a server, but that everyone drives on their own system and Clubs keeps track of everyone’s times. I checked out the Clubs help page, but didn’t see Rallycross mentioned. Did you happen to see WRX as a championship type as an option?
I’d also love a rally in the snow.
I would imagine that they are not affiliated with MUDSPIKE, but found it by searching Clubs, or lurking here.
Edit: I should say that I don’t see a problem with letting them drive the rally, but perhaps for future ones, indicate that they need to participate in the thread at MUDSPIKE. Just my .$02.
