Some of those names looked familiar, I was going with potentially using different names there as to here for now. I updated the club info to reflect just that this morning

I don’t have an option to select the rallycross tracks, so I’m guessing that’s a no.

The only question going forward is going to be with DLC, I can put DLC tracks in, but if people don’t have them, they can’t participate. It may not actually be a problem, I think everyone mostly has them, but if not let me know, just want to make sure we can include as many as possible

Well, rallycross tracks are for straight multiplayer (PvP). Different than rally stages. I’d be happy to do rallycross. I watch WRX on tv. We would need to all show up at the same time and race.

Yeah, that’s the big drawback. Trying to do so across all these timezones seems like a nightmare to co-ordinate, If people do want to we have discord at least to try and get some of those going.

I’ll set up a longer “championship” after the next one and throw in a variety of courses. I just want to test the service area set up I tinkered with for the next Rally. I’m just trying to find a balance for all skill levels. I guess if I wanted I could just leave them as usual and extend the time to long to compensate, I dunno.

I don’t know about anyone else, but i would caution against a really long rally event. Cars might get wrecked out and people lose interest. Also, a long rally event might discourage people that don’t want to put in extended time into this. Just my 2 cents, which may not mean much.

Wrecking in one event wouldn’t do anything to hamper the next event. Can even do different classes for different events in the same championship. It’s really up to whoever if they are worried about points or not.

It’s more about not needing to set up a new championship every single time as opposed to doing one per race. I know I personally never minded what place I came in, usually it was last and I’m still going

What I mean is, if people skip one or don’t have time it’s not a worry, there’s no trophy or anything like that.

I tend to agree with this statement. In other words, if I can’t get through a rally (not a championship) over a weekend, while in the middle of other real life obligations, by knocking out 4 or 5 stages at a sitting, then I’m not going to be finishing many rallies. If anything, and I am very thankful for this, my primary job, working in IT, I am more busy than ever. Again, just my $0.02

Executive Summary: 12 stages or less is perfect

I should have mentioned, I only really gave the short time spans on the initial ones because I was using them as a test. I can easily expand times and run them for a full week etc.

The current one and the next one I set up where more about settings than everything else, I’ll put up a poll later this week to get some consensus on tracks, cars and the like.

The only thing I dislike about timing one event to a week’s time is that past experience has shown that no one wants to go first and wait till the final hours to post their times. Then people get ticked cause those spending 6 1/2 days perfecting the course dominate week in and week out and they stop showing up as well.

It goes both ways.

for what it’s worth, there was no plan to go over 12 stages away since there aren’t any more than that per track.

In interest of keeping an option available to help pass the time I’m going to run 2 “events” per week.

1 “fun run” during the week starting midday EDT Monday running through midday Thursday EDT. I’ll post it in advance and if folks wanted to try out different options I’ll be happy to oblige here.

The other “event” will be a weekend one Starting Thursday’s and going into Monday morning. I will not post the course or car in advance for these events.

If people want me to carry over standings from the “Weekend events” I will, but if you’re just looking for a fun ride that’s fine too, don’t feel obligated to be good at it to join in. I’m just aiming to fill some potential downtime a lot of us may have.

With that said, This weeks “Fun Run” will be Poland in Group B (4WD)

Test event 1 is over.

only 2 out of 5 finished, 6 if we count the one who died on the shakedown. Remember to check before you go that you have spare tires on your car and also to change them at service areas

Gah this is so tempting…
But I am not sure whether I should sink those…40 Euros or something into a game I will most likely play quite rarely…

Also: Sad that there is no Toyota Celica in the game.
But if there is a Seat Ibiza (the first car I drove in real life and also one of my favourites in Dirt Rally 1) I might…

Hmpf. Y’all are really bad influence.
I just recorded two videos of me driving badly in Dirt Rally 1.

Sadly Youtube seems to have butchered the quality a bit, but hey, it is a test after all.

This one has a tiny bit less cringe-worthy driving.
It actually is somewhat reminiscent of me driving through the Black Forest in my mom’s Seat Ibiza back in 2003. (just don’t tell her…)

SO group b is really really fun!!

Stage 1 went ok with the exception of my h shifter not being fully tightened down. Tried to downshift to 2nd and needless to say i had the whole shifter in hand!

Stage 2 3/4 of it was good, that last 1/4 was bad, blew a left rear tyre and replaced it and right before the finish line I blew a right front. No spare…

Stage 3 what can i say, i drove on three tyres and a rim!!!

Group B is insanity on wheels.

Btw, do y’all drive in first person or third person?

I have to drive in first person - that third person view is cool…but it has some camera movement that isn’t tied to the car…sort of an elastic view, that makes it very hard to actually judge cornering and stuff…
