DiRT Rally 2.0 League - Discussion

Same here.
I am having a blast with the R5 Polo GTI.
My new favourite car in the game (previously it was the Seat Ibiza Kit Car with which I achieved my best driving).

That being said: the Mudspike QL league pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me test cars I hadn’t tried previously. Like RWD cars for example.

I would find 2 different long rallys hard to do so I haven’t signed up for the Alt Rally. If you feel the need to cut one for whatever I would join the one remaining but personally I like changing cars regularly. But I will always go with the flow no worries.

It’s more like 1 1/2 here.

Don’t worry the Alt. Rally won’t be going away (i’ve thought about buying the DLC on PS4 and sneaking in a second driver to get another crack at some of those :rofl:).

I wish there were some option between 3 1/2 days and 7 days that worked evenly. Since we may be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it may be time for a shorter QL championship. I can still vary up car classes between races. Either way, I can figure it out after this Weekend’s rally.

Mostly just time. I’m playing multiple games and the “pressure” of having to complete the race in 3-4 days… If I don’t race in the first 2 days I know I won’t finish.

Tons of fun though and definitely still interested in the non-alt league

Fun Run The Spanish Sprint is over!

7 drivers entered
7 drivers finished

@Roo takes the win
@chipwich takes 2nd
@Camembert takes 3rd

Congrats to everyone. After this weekends rally in Wales there will be 5 car classes we haven’t done in the QL and 4 locations.

I figure we all might be stuck at home more than we’d like for about another 3 weeks-ish. So I’ll set up a 4 race Championship, 5 days for each race, using the final 4 locations and cars (one class is getting kicked to the curb unfortunately).

I can alter anything on here up till Wed if there are any objections. Stops are every other stage, plus one bonus short stop before the last stage. Each of the Rally’s take 1 hour +/- 10 minutes to complete. 5 days for each rally should be enough time to get that in. Some of you probably spend more time than that trying to start up some of your fancier jets in DCS :stuck_out_tongue:

Greece in a rwd group b nice…

Oh dear. That’s probably the class I have the biggest problems with. Drove the Opel Manta a few times, and I have to say RWD + 400hp is one hell of a combo!

I was going to end on Greece and Group B, but forgot and can’t just switch the order without redoing a bunch of other stuff :wink: But how could I not, I mean, the RWD cars did beat the 4WD ones there head to head.

But I did give everyone 4WD in Monaco and removed the rain from Scotland, so I say it’s even

Just my $.02., but with 12 possible locations, would it be possible not to repeat rallies that we’ve just driven? For instance, and I probably sound like a pansy, but Monte Carlo and Scotland were tough rallies. Scotland was miserable, not being able to see out of the car. If we don’t drive it for a few months, that would be fine. And my mother is 2nd generation Scottish immigrant :slight_smile: She made me wear a kilt when I was young. Was hugely embarrassing, and perhaps that is where my phobia is rooted.

Look forward to Greece and perhaps some new locations. Perhaps Wales and either NZ or Poland. Granted we race on the last 2, but not recently.

Another idea, would anyone like to help me test rallycross multiplayer this coming weekend? Maybe 2100 GMT Saturday? Or another time that would work. Meet on MUDSPIKE discord?

Ah ha. Hadn’t driven it yet, so didn’t know where Powys is. Nevermind. On with the program. Happy to drive anywhere.

I’ve swapped Monte Carlo for New England (everyone kinda liked that one didn’t they?), I took all the rain out of Scotland seeing won’t be an issue, but will pick a different car class if that helps

Just done the first stage of the new rally in the Land of my Fathers (Dad was Welsh).

I have a feeling this is going to be a long event for me, Never have I ever felt so unsafe in a car since I started teaching my wife to drive! Could I hell like control the back and it felt like the car was on top of a spinning plate.

I honestly don’t know what was worse, driving this car or the mental picture I was given earlier on in the day of Chipwich wearing a kilt.

No way will I ever get to the end of this. :dizzy_face:

I drove the Australia rally.
Remember what I told y’all about Spain and how I got too cocky and that made the rally really bad?
This is exactly the same thing.

I finished, not much more to say. It was dire.

I will upload a video of my only halfway decent stage soon.

Keep at it @Camembert, the Sweet Lamb stage feels really good when you can nail it.

Powys is my home rally, I live about 20-30 miles away, so about an hour on Welsh roads. :rofl:

I think it may just be a natural evolution. Initially it was a new thing to try out for a lot of people, then some may have decided it wasn’t for them. Numbers slowly drop until you have a core group that really loves it. Personally I’ve enjoyed every minute (except for flying off cliffs…), and love both formats. As Rhino mentioned, it may also be due to people’s time constraints.

:heart_eyes: Looking forward to that! Wanted to drive the 037 since the the Grand Tour did the story of them vs the Quatttos, but just never got around to it. Now’s my chance!

Also like the idea of swapping USA for Monte Carlo. Personally I liked Monaco, but I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

My only other comment is I would have liked to see the H2 RWD class. The Escort has a sweet sounding engine. Perhaps swapping that with the R5s, as we’ve done a lot of them in the Alt Rally? Happy with whatever you guys come up with though.

I’m down for that.

Stage 1 - Bronfelen - couple of mistakes and then flew her into a tree at the end.

Stage 2 - Dyffryn Afon - sequence of mistakes into terminal damage and rage. LOL!

Really looking forward to some Rallycross this weekend … serenity now! … serenity now! …

Got halfway through Australia. The open areas are mostly fine, though the fences can come up unexpectedly if you’re not paying attention. And the forested areas…

They’re very similar to Scotland. You’ve got a steep drop on one side leading to a woody death, and across the narrow track is a steep embankment with little bumps jutting out just waiting to pitch you into said woody death. Thankfully the dirt is much more rutted and grabby than Scotland so it tends to slow you down more before you go hurtling towards your favorite tree. The poor old Fiesta is getting quite banged up, but its plucky determination is pulling it through (for now).
