Been running a DRY 12 stage rally in Scotland with the R5s against the AI. Man, that place is both fun and scary! There are a lot of flat out sections where it’s like a flatter version of Finland, sprinkled with some nice slower corners and hairpins. Really fun to run through there.
My only issue is that I’ve got the AI set to 85%, which means I really have to push to keep up. Typically I can get about a second up on them per split, but I have to have absolute confidence in my co-driver. Problem is, the pace notes are a little inconsistent in Scotland.
I’ve seen 3 rights that are both a “slight lift and chuck it in” from top speed, to “are you blind, that’s a slightly open square right!” There are also 3 or 4 spots where the calls are quite misleading. There’s one where it’s more like a fast chicane, but it’s called out as a 4 left, 3 right. Kind of knew about that one, so I was expecting it. Then there’s a “6 right…[pause]…caution…[pause]…tightens 3 right!” Of course, you’re about 10 feet from the 3 right by the time you hear that, going waaay too fast, and smash straight into the trees…
ok, so new week and ready to go see about boosting some active participants. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go hunt for a few more drivers?
As a slight aside, I’ve been doing the daily’s, weekly’s and monthly’s as I’ve been missing our fun. It’s not the same and I have no idea how competitive I am with my new wheel.
Well, I could always set up the alt rally league to run now if wanted while we try and fill ranks for the main league. I’m thinking Group B (4WD) for that and <= 2000cc for the main.
My only gripe with group B AWD is that I have no red car to compete in.
Hmmmm… I wonder if @komemiute or another talented artist would like the challenge to make a livery for a car.
I really don’t like the paint job on the Audi. I need a red car!
Edit: nevermind, I just read that for some cars it seems to be not possible to do custom liveries. Grrr…
Apparently it is possible to make custom liveries for some cars (even though you always overwrite another livery as each car has a limited number of livery slots). For the Audi and a few others it is impossible, supposedly because Audi only gave a license for the car if it appeared in its official livery, and only that livery.
Yes, for the non generic colored skins, maybe only one or two per car, you can skin them. I haven’t tried it yet and on Race Department some have many more than others. Like the Audi S1 has only 3 x skin mods on RD, but the Fiesta R5 has 3 x pages full of them. Suggest using deLivery to manage.
Ok, once I get a little more coffee I’ll put together a 5 week Group B 4WD series. Why 5 weeks? That brings us a few days before 4th of July weekend, which i was planning on keeping as an open week.
The Worldwide Drought Tour is upon us! 5 weeks and not a single drop of rain to be found. Group B 4WD is the weapon. Only thing I ask is that you choose your car wisely and stick with the same throughout.
Rallys run Wed - Wed, Noon EDT - Noon EDT
I will be keeping score manually. Here is the list.
@chipwich to answer your question here, There is no rain on any stage, not even a wet track. Services are long, every other stage so starting before stage 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 with the short stage 12 stop. I’ve also tried to add additional stops if 2 long stages are smashed together.
