DiRT Rally 2.0 League - Discussion

Ah yes, thanks! I saw at the beginning of Stage 4 I was able to make some choices on repairs. I had a toasted engine and a toasted radiator…but the radiator looked to be more dire, so I had to repair that and hope I can coast along for a few stages to get to the engine.

Definitely one of the prettiest games out there. What a blast. Just finished Stage 4 and Stage 5…wow…that rain was something else. I don’t know what is going on with my engine, but it actually quits sometimes and I’m left coasting with no windshield wipers…that was certainly interesting…!

think your numbers are backwards  6’s are basically straight.

You’re doing just fine Beach, running mid pack consistently. Hang in there and someone ahead of you will bend it no doubt. Also, don’t jump the start, because the marshals will dock you 10 seconds. You’re my Lancia teammate, so bring it home baby!

I used to think that, but this is what they really are…

They sure didn’t feel very straight in the MG, i should have took the Ford

Fun Stage 6 with some nice wet conditions but sunny skies made for nice ambiance…I think I’m gonna need a sheet metal guy in my crew…

I just realized that when you are driving, you don’t have time to look around and realize how beautiful the environment is.

Yeah…that would be some great terrain for Steel Beasts…

Weekend Rally #2: 3pm EDT Thursday - 3pm Monday

Location: New England

Car Class: H2 (FWD)

12 Stages: Longest duration repairs available stages 4,7,10
Short duration repairs available stages 3,6,9,12

Lots of us got our hands on the beasts that were Group B, now time to slow down a tad with H2 (FWD). Because the Weekend Rally is a longer time frame I’ll stick with 12 stages, but I added in some extra chances to repair to try and help get more folks to the end in one piece.

  • You only get 3 sets of tires per rally, choose where to change them wisely and whatever you do, don’t forget to actually change them.

Going forward I’ll drop the mid-week Fun Runs down to 6 stages, we had a big run on people joining with under 24 hours to go for this weeks one and unfortunately a course that was more repetitive than I realized when setting it up (I swear they are all actually different stages, somehow).

The Fun Runs are only running for 3 days so, dropping it down to 6 stages should be good to get people in and finished in one go with ease. As always, I’m up for suggestions for the Fun Run location and car class

Ha…chased Mudcat through the poor weather and darkness on Stage 12…I had a few major screw ups on that last stage. I think three times I had to go into Reverse and one time it reset me with a 10 second penalty. I think I was going catatonic by the end of that last stage…those trees whipping by is mesmerizing! Great event…had a lot of fun and learned a lot…

Lol I just looked at the numbers for those of us who have already finished.
Bottom line: so far @chipwich makes us all look like bloody amateurs.
None of us didn’t even get close.
However there is still a chance as not everyone has finished the event yet. Gogogo!

I held up a bit better than I thought. The last few stages you can see the very damaged state of my car, the times become considerably worse. I had a heavy crash on stage 9, flipped the car on its roof 200m before the finish. From there on I was really anxious that I would not finish the event so I reduced my speed. In two stages (including the last one) the radiator was steaming and the engine was stuttering. The last stop used up all my repair time (and then some actually, but I needed those repairs).

Edit: I wonder whether I should deactivate the stage progress indicator thingie. I noticed that towards the end of a stage I tend to go faster and lose concentration. Most of my heavier crashes happen there.

I deactivated mine already. I always tried to make up time when I shouldnt. Plus I found myself looking at it to much.

yo… heavy rain at night is STRESSFUL. Thank goodness my engine was shot and I couldn’t do more than 100 most of the time. I still managed to crash haha.

I should’ve been a minute (ok, let’s face it a lot) faster overall, but one of the stages I took the wrong turn and instead of letting me turn around (I’d stopped to start doing that) it gave me a 1 minute penalty. boooo. I would’ve had fastest (I’m not counting chipwich) stage otherwise!

Sounds like an exact mirror of my experience. I never actually got inverted, but I definitely ended up on two wheels a few times. And yes, as soon as you get some engine or radiator damage, you get a bit nervous for sure. When I hit my first repair opportunity (I think at the beginning of Stage 4), I didn’t realize that that list actually scrolls down and there can be more items to repair. Turns out my turbo was trashed for all the stages between 4 and 7 I think and once I realized I could repair it my acceleration was much better…but also made me that much more out of control sometimes. And yes, that stage distance bar can be a distraction. My funniest moment was definitely when I accidentally turned of my wipers and didn’t know the button on the XBox controller to turn them back on.

Got it, sorry for the delay, slept in a bit this morning

I almost took the Metro, worried about the turbo lag of the others. But then I read a history of the Lancia Delta S4 and how the engineers added a supercharger to smooth out the power delivery. So, made a last minute decision to drive it. No way was I stepping in that Peugeot.

Too bad there is no Martini skin for the Lancia :frowning:

 I only took MG because it’s really hard to bust all the lights on that thing.

Uhm… Martini Racing Livery… uhm…
