wrong car though

Yeah, I just noticed it. It was posted on Steam in the wrong category and the picture was tiny.

Ah I see @keets has joined the fray!
Only two stages in the book so far, but he is quite fast!

Looking at the stage times, I was all over the place, from 2nd - 10th. Not very consistent on my part.

Thanks Aginor. Must have.

Go @keets!

Me too haha. I’m brutal. Some parts where I felt I was cruising and then I’d knick a pebble and lose all control.

Oh yeah I know that feeling.

Next time I start my aim will be just to finish.

I rarely set the barrier too high for myself.

I think we picked the wrong horse. I had to choose between trying to keep the car straight or keeping the rear end from whipping around in turns. I think I choose wrong there too.

I sometimes drive embarrassingly slow.
I wanted to record a video or two to show my driving but it was just cringeworthy.
The worst part was in that village where they built all those narrow turns using bales.

Btw, I am getting used to the new German co-pilot. She sounds pretty authentic. Well, she is a real WRC co-pilot after all. Some people are annoyed by her but IMO she is at least as good as her predecessor.

At the beginning of stage 2 I heavily damaged my engine, radiator and turbo. I also had tire problems. I had to nurse it to the.end of the stage. I really could have used a repair, but no service available. I had to continue on with the stages until I got to the service park. I flubbed up the repair stuff and got sent out to the rally without repairing anything.

I had to wait until the next service to start repairing things and i could do a full repair due to excessive time penalties.

I ran through the stages in a broken machine until the last service park and got fixed pretty good. I was able to unleash the beast again and then I spun and hit a wood fence and terminally damaged my engine.

Gaaaaahhh overcooked it and what a spectacular crash. Multiple rolls and terminal failure. Enforced retirement. I think it was on stage 7.

What a rush. I got up to second, but Chipwich was in a different league. :slightly_smiling_face:

I can’t wait for the next one.

I drove way too many stages on essentially 3 wheels. That’s surprisingly quick… engine damage is way worse for your speed lol.

I could not for the life of me figure out how to change to my spare tire, but to be honest, the time penalty wouldn’t have been worth it.

come to a full stop, press up on d-pad, provided you were carrying spares. I took one tire penalty, was only about a minute, plus a few jump starts and overage on repairs, minus penalties I might have been more competitive

Shsh, it’s a good thing that no real drivers are around, because I’d get me arse handed to me every stage.

I was thinking about how we could do a MUDSPIKE rally school, something the Richard Burns Rally had. If anyone has an idea, please chime in. @Gunnyhighway’s streaming on Stich twitch also got me pondering about how to do this on my system, but not have it look like it’s a VR view in 2D. Will work on that tonight. Maybe a few of us could announce and stream our drives to give the rest a spectator view, which might help learn some of the nuances of rally driving. Or at least offer a little comic relief during stressful times.

Oh and my drive? I hit one of the chicanes and damaged my radiator, and took a trip way out in a farmer’s field, both the result of sipping on some bourbon during the drive last night. Fortunately, both came before service stops and I was able to repair. Could have been better, but not more fun. Great rally @Mudcat

setting up twitch for basic streaming like I did is really easy. Just create an account on twitch, and if you have nvidia GeForce experience, it has a built in live stream mode you just link your account with and it does the rest for you. Would love to see you guys runs. Should be a requirement to live stream your run for extra pressure.

LOL sadist.

well right, but that 1 minute penalty is killer. I was still driving at a pretty decent clip (100+) with a busted tire. Depending where you are in the stage, not worth it to take a 1 min penalty.

I’m driving with a G27 and couldn’t, for the life of me, figure out how to change the tire. I hit escape during the stage and didn’t see a button assigned to it or where to find it.
