I think, and this is something i need to confirm before doing a FC, you get the initial cost back once you decommission the FC. So if thats the case, its an easy purchase for me for colonization

So… it is like a rental essentially!
Somehow I missed this. Or forgot.

This changes things.

I think. @HavlokUK could confirm it. But I believe it cost $150 million to decommission but you get your inital purchase cost back.

So im guessing if it cost $6.5 billion to purchase you get that cost back when decommissioned minus the $150 million.

I think this is right, except you lose some value depending in the distance to the nearest fleet carrier vendor, so as long as you jump it in to a vendor system to decommission the cost is minimal.

Oh, you also lose the cost of any Tritium in the fuel tank, and any stock you purchased for the shipyard or outfitting. Not sure about any commodities or on foot materials on board either.

EDIT: Also not sure if you get the installation costs for the installed services back. I made sure to remove them prior to decommissioning to ensure I got the installation fees back.

Also, you are welcome to use my FC for colonisation, just let me know.

Sometimes I think if FD is just farming good Karma by announcing something they already know they will backtrack on, and then when the first resistance shows up they fold immediately.

I’ve had a chance to do a bit of hauling in Gamma Muscae and we’re now at 37% complete at Ito Horizons. Over 1/3 done!

I’ve also been fiddling with the Raven Colonial website and it’s pretty useful for planning how to develop a system. Gamma Muscae can be found here:

https://ravencolonial.com/#sys=Gamma%20Muscae

I recommend switching to the dark blue theme image to avoid burned out retinas . Also, if you are interested in how the economy of the system will shape up you can click on the chemistry beaker icon image to toggle including planned construction in the calculations.

o7 guys.

I got a bit too close to Fei Lo as she arrived next to a G-type star during the last CG. I managed to grab this series of screenies which makes for a cool kind of timelapse sequence, and I thought I’d share:

Next time I’ll try to capture a video.

Glorious!

You said you carrier is up for rent?
I might have found a System I’d like to colonize.

Sure. Fei Lo is mostly empty at the moment so it’s a good time to make a claim. I’m happy to move her around as needed. Just let me know where you want her

Just this morning I docked my Anaconda to Fei Lo. I’d be happy to tag along for the ride

I’m now very tempted to build a Dodec with all the struts and call it ‘Hedgehog Station’ or possibly ‘Metal Sonic’

LOL, oh noes, gamers overreacting to some change in their game…

Yeah, he does tend to take things a little personally at times.

I’ve logged in this morning just to have a look around and get a couple of hauling trips in. I can’t honestly see any difference in Gamma Muscae from these changes, although maybe all hell will break loose after the Thursday server tick tomorrow. :person_shrugging:

I mean it’s not like the actual survival of our CMDRs depends on the wealth generated by the structures in our colonized system…

It’s made up numbers in a made up virtualized Universe.
There’s no actual gain in that- and as such there’s no loss.

Just the way effects and economies are calculated…

But why shouldn’t player overreact and just throw all the toys out of the pram?
