i just booted up elite for the first time in a serious while… and picked up a panther clipper, and spent untold millions turning it into a beast of a miner … not i just need to remember how to work the scanner to find mining sites

I’ve just signed up for the Distant Worlds 3 expedition which kicks off in January. I’m starting to get a bit excited!
It’s been interesting looking over the fleet specs. Jump ranges have improved considerably since DW2. Back then I used a Krait Mk 2 mining build which could just about do 43LY’s. This time I’ve decided to take my trusty explor-a-phantom, the “Crawfords Mask”, with it’s more reasonable range of 74LY’s. There is a Mandalay on the rosta which can do 99LY’s, and I’m sure this will be eclipsed by those who turn up with Caspian’s in the next few weeks.

Jumped back into elite today only to have my stick and throttle(moza) buttons switched around, Stick buttons do what throttle did and throttle buttons do what stick did.
Nothing I do has fixed it. X plane works fine nothing is switched. Aggravating as crap, Now i have to rebind.

Think I got all my binds worked out, It was only the Moza stuff. Frustrating but done.
It keeps me up to date on my binds. Good to know why they do lol.

Congrats! That insta-Dodec will give you a great head start.
I recommend using this website to plan your system - it takes a little time to set up but I’ve found it invaluable as it’s easy to screw up the economy if you’re not very careful:
I’m currently about 1/3 of the way to Colonia (on a Christmas delivery mission 
) but I will drop in and do some hauling for you when I get back. Of course, I’ll also be heading off in January for the DW3 expedition so it might not be a lot of hauling 
.

Love that website! Allready got a lot planned out.
Not really sure what I want out of this system. Currently its a Tourism and agriculture economy. Adding a security installation and a military outpost to raise up security.
I do plan on making one of the ice plants into a refinery hub.

Nice system! It’s up to you about the security - I have tried to keep Gamma Muscae just on the right side if anarchy but not let the security go above low. I want to be able to fight pirates and have an interstellar factors broker, but I don’t want to have to put up with interdictions all the time.

My plans don’t hinge on security but im trying to keep it fairly secure. After I get what I have planned done I might target another dodec to orbit the sun. Not sure though.

Good luck! I’m not sure what the commodity requirements are for the Dodec but I am finding the Orbis quite a slog. I think it boils down to about 230 Panther trips. It’s doable, but definitely feels grindy.

Lol yeah plus the 12 tier 3 points. Almost worth just doing the other station types or planetary stations.
Thats for way down the road though. I found a spot 1 jump away from me that has most the bigger list items so thats pretty good. Don’t need the FC yet…

Been busy hauling goods for building up my system. Just finished my 8th facility. Planets 3,4, and 5 are completed. Moving on to Planet 6c which will be my mining colony so to speak.
