I know- I tried… but the executable just crashed with the error (IIRC) Jade Viper.
Which is a known problem sometimes, connected to exobiology.
Have to try again, as soon as I’m home.

I saw someone on YouTube tiday having the same problem. Don’t know if there is a workaround or what it is though, sorry.

OH WOW! I am happy! Today I have no issues and for just 20 minutes of sampling I got 25 Million credits and I’m in the top 50%… Wowzers

OKay I did a little more sampling and I am in the 25%, with 62 samples.
Enough for the whole CG probably… I don’t like to grind too much.

I managed a sneaky 6 samples earlier while my daughters were at their Scout meeting. I’m blown away by the location - what VIEWS! - and I was finding it quite fun jumping around the trees. I can’t help feeling this is just the beginning though. FDEV have been teasing this for weeks and I feel like that much effort would result in more than just a few trees to sample. I feel like there’s more still to come. Or I could be barking up the wrong tree entirely (pun absolutely intended 
).

Ooh, yeah. The visuals are stunning.
Since I’m a sucker I went down on a planet again and collected for some more time (while having a movie on my second screen).
I worked out a very simple, repeatable, and quick scanning technicque and I am at a comfortable 200 samples now.
The best part was observing the sun setting, the temprature slowly decreasing, and the whole lighting changing ever so slightly until night fall and the eerie glow of the plants getting stronger and stronger… Absolutely marverllous.
At a certain point I stopped the movie to simply take in the spectacle.
I just wish we could be on foot and in VR too.
That said … rarned more than 180 million in total… and yet my Exobiologist Rank is stuck. 
Not happy about it- instead of “Mostly Directionless” I should be “Collector”.
Unhappy about it, but mayeb the game servers are hammered. Will check again tomorrow.
Edit : so it seems like I’m not the only one with a faulty progression in the Exo-biologist rank. Let’s hope FD fixes it.

I have been enjoying exploring HIP 87621 a little, although I’ve only racked up a measly 21 samples for the CG. Gotta hand it to FDEV for coming up with such an amazing setting. I thought I’d share some screenies of this and some hauling in Gamma Muscae:

Why is it that Elite dumps all your joystick info when you add or change stuff out??
I added a Virpil Control panel and changed out my rudder pedals to Virpil and now I m setting up all my joystick commands again…Pain in the butt
Hope I got everything right, Need to jump back in before the end of the CG. I’m only 3 above the bottom of the 75% tier.

DCS used to be like that too. Elite was so bad about it in its early days. Patch day meant control rebinding day. Good to hear that’s still shite.
So technically you can do things easier, IIRC -
Yes, by all means, when you plug in a new hardware Elite gives you a blank sheet of bindings.
BUT
if you go from in game - that is while you are actively in the ship - to the Esc, Options/Controls menu and (for instance) to the Ship controls you are presented , on top of the bindings list, with a drop down menu with all the configurations you created.
You can force Elite to reload the one you used to have, and on top of that you can now add bindings to the new hardware or change those that are already available.
The bad part of this system is that it doesn’t really tell you all this- but honestly we went a LONG way form the beginnings- when really every update could bork the controls configuration.

Did anyone get the shiny G5 engineered suit? I have been a bit preoccupied with work and haven’t managed to log in for the last week, so I’ve no idea if I’m still on the top 75% or not.

The CG ends in a bit less than 3 hours… as long as you have delivered more than, let’s say, 50 samples you should be fine.
If you’re under that- eeh… tough luck.

1hour 15 left on the CG, anything under 49 leaves you without a suit. Was sitting at 46 this morning, But found 3 nice trees to hop to and from and got up to 125. Should be good.
