Good News™ for Planet Express.
Yeah I know but at least I’m selling the byproduct of Tritium extraction (wow that sounds professional) instead of just dumping it into the closest gravitational well.
I just hope it’s not an hassle. It’s still not clear how those buy-order work.
EDIT: in the end I think I made almost 20k just for those byproducts.
It covers mining wear&tear nicely! My ship’s paintjob has taken a beating!
It’s no trouble at all. As for the buy orders they work like this:
FEI PAW has a certain amount of capital in its bank account. When I set up a buy order I basically tell the carrier to place an order for a certain amount of a commodity at a certain price. Then when you dock and go to the commodity market you can sell that commodity to the carrier to fill part or all of that order. FEI PAW pays you out of its bank account.
Later on when we get back to civilisation I will try to find stations that are buying those commodities at premium prices. I can then hopefully sell them at a profit in order to top up FEI PAW’s bank account and help cover her running costs during the trip.
I generally set the buy price between 50% and 67% of the highest price in the Bubble. That way you get the bulk of the reward for your mining efforts and I still have a reasonable chance of breaking even.
Ah! That’s better than I expected!
Thanks for the explanation.
Being a poor commander I never worried too much about carriers…
Yeah…fragments…
The worst is the asteroids you have to crack open with explosives… the amount of damage you get if you’re too close is terrible.
That looks so cool, though
Absolutely, I’m proud of it!
I wanted to get one more mining session, and had a really good haul tonight. Like 94 tons or so donated.
Started to come home early when I ran out of Displacement Missiles, but then found another asteroid full of Tritium deposits. So I synthesized an ammo restock to finish it off.
We’re taking an impromptu trip to the beach before school starts, so I better hurry back to the barn. But, I’ll be bringing a bit of fuel with me (though not as much as I wanted- I’m a bit rusty at mining).
I have to admit I’m enjoying exploring this bit of space. I’ve spent a couple of evenings just wandering around at random in between doing a bit of mining and even the odd canyon run - the views have been lovely:
Wow, I want an Anaconda so bad…
Whats is the easiest way to get arsenic? My old method of Masszony 1aa is not yielding me with any results. When I built up my DBX on Xbox that was my go to spot. Now that I am trying to build up a DBX on PC I can not for the life of me find arsenic.
I’m finding it in mid-tier biological and geological site drops.
Just find a planet with a decent bit of Arsenic (or what ever is needed) reported after scanning, and that also has a geological or biological site after mapping. Then drop in to the bio/geo site and figure out which type of collectible at that site corresponds to your material type (just sample each type a few times), and focus on hunting those.
P. S. A. : You can use the Detailed Surface Scanner to launch probes into planetary rings (from super cruise) to analyze the rings composition.
That can give a good indication of what you’ll find - arsenic being on of the possibile materials.
Thanks guys! I drove around collecting anything and everything I could but never did get any Arsenic so I decided to go to a material trader and see if I had anything to trade for Arsenic. Turns out I had plenty of odd ball stuff. Now I have 15 arsenic, which is way more than I need. Now its time to mine some frame shift wakes!
So I did a little Tritium mining in the Deep Core and picked up 110 tons, then I thought for a change of pace I’d do a little core hunting to use up the rest of the limpets. I dropped in to the Grandiderite hotspot just around the ring from where I was mining Tritium and spotted a core asteroid right in front of me literally dead centre of the canopy. I fire a prospector - sure enough it’s a void opal core, so I go ahead and crack it and smile at my good luck:
Once I hoover up the opals I fire the pulse wave scanner and spot another good looking candidate just 2 km off - this time it’s a Grandiderite core:
Again after cracking the roid and scooping up the goodies I fire the pulse wave scanner and spot a third - Grandiderite again:
I spot the fourth core literally right next to the third - another void opal:
I was really surprised at how close these cores were so I took a screen grab of three blown asteroids with the sun setting behind the planet:
I spotted the fifth core just 15 km away:
In all it took just one hour to crack 5 cores, all but the last one within sight of each other. Amazing! Here was the final tally after about 90 minutes of Tritium mining and 60 minutes of core hunting:
o7 guys
Wow, so many cores. I have yet to find one.
BTW, @HavlokUK are we safe to go out exploring this week, or is there a departure planned soon? I ask because sometimes I am lazy and spend the night parked on a planet, and continue exploring on my next session.
