Foothold - Persian Gulf

Not sure, they’ve gone about 40% of the distance in about an hour maybe, so probably the same again until they reach Khasab. I have them stopping outside the city, so thinking that if @jenrick doesn’t finish off the entire red army by then then they might be useful when we come back on..

Assuming you got it loaded

Radio menu

Logistics
CTLD
Manage Crates
Drop crates
And then if you have something loaded it should give you the options to “drop and build”

You have to be outside the colored marker of a given zone for it to work I believe.

I might hop on again later tonight and stack some SAM’s on the coast, suggestions? I am reasonably familiar with the HAWK and the Roland, but the rest of the list I haven’t a clue about.

Not sure what happened. Had a disconnect in the evening, and now my graphics just froze and only sounds were on an endless loop… I’ll try again later.

@Sryan No worries man, it happens. I was thinking anyone flying the Hind at night is a braver man than I.

A bit of night fighting this evening, I love using the Apache in the dark. It went quite well, cleared out the Defense position, knocked down most of the SAMs and came back to reload.

The defense position with the engagement markers

The payout still seems a little light for ground pounding

Decided to mix it up with the Kiowa. The glass pit, and HUD for the NVG’s is really nice for it being a scout 'copter.

And I absolutely hellfired it

I ended up needing to take an Apache again, as 4 hellfires wasn’t going to cut it (and apparently my landing skills didn’t either). So after two more runs, some rockets, lots of gun, and some more hellfires Khasab was cleared.

@TeTeT had logged on with his trusty Huey, and the plan was I’d fly top cover while he ran the zone supplies. Unfortunately we were pretty much out of Apache ordinance so I swapped over to a Kiowa armed with stingers. If you’re thinking that doesn’t sound promising you’re right. TeTeT unfortunately got smacked by a Fulcrum, and loaded up to try again while I landed to await his return.

The second run I bought a CAP and it managed to drive off/kill a couple MiG’s, and just about as I thought we might make it TeTeT disconnected. I fired off a stinger at a passing Fulcrum, but it was a moral victory only.

I grabbed a CH-47 from FARP Moscow, and third times the charm. As I was heading in a whole new passel of MiG’s and an Mi-8 showed up, so another CAP off of Charlie headed N was activated. They killed the Mi-8 and bought me enough time to get in and unload.

So here’s where everything sits currently.

As I mentioned, I may get some SAM’s out along the coast if anyone can suggest what to put out.

Didn’t make it in time, so no CA combat today.

They did good though, and they probably needed dramamine on that road.

Khasab got scud’d and is down on supplies, 1/3 now. Most of the spawned ground units got blatted. Before that happened the blue base also launched some sort of cruise missile attack on the Red Carrier group (they have one!) but DCS threw them into a mountain that was inconsiderately in between Khasab and the fleet.

Did some logistics work tonight. Plussed up Khasab, and add a stinger team and a HAWK battery at the N end. I also put an IRIS-T battery on the west Coast, to hopefully keep Red Air from causing too many issues on that flank. Had a pop up mission for a terrorist hideout, took the opportunity to try to remember how to drop JDAMs in the Harrier. Only took three tries…

Overall relaxing evening over the UAE, and hopefully for whoever hops on next their setup for success.

Does the Harrier have datalink?

I don’t think so. It can do a bunch fancy stuff in terms of receiving targets from a JTAC but I don’t think it can send any out.

I took a F1 over the island immediately to our NW at mach jesus and about 50’ AGL only took some MG fire last night. The two fox bats in the area never picked me up either. So low and fast might work well to get us a foot hold out there.

I took the update and went on another server to try the C-130. Good news, it loads and unloads cargo again. Bad news? Once cargo is loaded CTLD doesn’t seem to be doing anything with it anymore. I had tried to airdrop it but my load wouldn’t come out. Also couldn’t interact with crates on the ground while flying (makes sense in way) meaning I couldn’t assemble anything that I would have dropped off. That would mean there would still need to be a helo or something to handle the final logistics.

When I have some more time I’ll probably trial the chinook

Hmmmm…

We seem to be down for the moment, any idea if we’ll be back up tonight? No biggie if not, I can spend the time trying to remember how get the Mudhen to drops bombs.

If I had to guess..maybe you updated your client software to the new DCS version..so perhaps it doesn’t show up on your server list. I’m updating the server to 2.9.24.20232 so it should be back up at around 0800 UTC…also moving the .miz file towards dawn and maybe tweaking the weather to another preset just for some spice of life. Will remember to desanitize the server so the saves will continue to save.

Ah, yep that was exactly it, I updated to be able to check out the C-130 update. Gave me a chance to remember how much I don’t remember in the F-15E, and do some flying in Afghanistan.
