If anyone still wants to fly tonight I would be around
It is good fun, if not taken too seriously! I did take quite some liberties and was often more in views around the flights and ships than tracking all the air action… I can see how this becomes a real job when you have more than 4 planes to coordinate!
Let’s go clean some SAMs off of those islands! I’ll fly with you!
I’m dropping in for a bit..
I’m off for the night, having done my small part for keeping the people of Abu Musa, Siri and Tunb illiterate. It’s been great fun again, good luck and git some guys!
All looking good, those Islands on A will fall soon enough. It’s not a real war unless you have graphics so:
Um, about that.. Google Search
I thought that schurem was from the Netherlands. Now I believe that you are implying that he has emigrated to our great nation. Welcome, Sir ![]()
Hoped on to a full on MS brawl with redfor. @BeachAV8R and I think @Derbysieger finished off Abu Musa in shot order, and I was able to grab a Herc to get the capture. Fortunately it has really good short field performance as I didn’t turn onto the runway heading until I was already dang near over it. Hey we paid for the whole runway we’re going to use the whole runway.
Then it was time to head over to Sirri, another 16 hellfires another 130 credits. I was headed back after going winchester and @BeachAV8R and I decided to try the opposite of him lasing me shooting from a week ago. At a distance the spot might not have been stable enough for Beach to get good hits, but it would cue him in on targets and he could self-designated. Once I got close enough to get a range, it seemed to steady-up and he got a few kills off of Georges skilled lasing. Unfortunately turning and setting up for a run, George became a casualty.
So back to Abu Musa we went, the long over water legs again had me running low on gas. I guess I need throw the Robbie tank in, rather than the extra 900 rounds of 30mm. Beach passed me (with some acro) headed for the runway as I got close.
I grabbed a new bird (and CPG), and headed back when they finished off the last of the resistance, via a large bomb on a group of sub-aquatic infantry.
I continued on to Sirri and parked my Apache for the follow on forces to grab, and hoped a C-130 at Sharjah. An AI CH-47 started off from Abu Musa, while Beach was apparently trying to figure out how to hot wire an Mi-8.
While all this was going on @Derbysieger @Sryan, @schurem, and I think @miRage and someone else had been shooting HARMS and splashing a wide variety of Soviet airplanes. Unfortunately, the timing on folks logging off or needing to refuel lined up with a Red Air strike to the islands. A Fulcrum proved that a C-130 isn’t a fighter, but we did learn an AI supply flight can capture an area for us.
@Derbysieger I believe it was, was laying waste to the red air while I grabbed an F-15C at Sirri, and by the time I came up to help all that was left was a single H-6 bomber. With Beach acting as the TAC for the engagement, I managed to not shoot Derby and find the damaged bomber. I was noticing the Eagle felt off and wasn’t keeping speed, having my gear down would do that
At least I didn’t land gear up.
Everyone called it a night at that point, and I decided to spend a few minutes plussing up Sirri.
How you ask? Why in a C-130 of course…
Air dropping supplies (zone and warehouse) works just fine
Sight picture at 500’ is about a fingers width before your drop zone cross out view behind the panel. If I am in the mood I later might take a relaxing Chinook flight up to Abu Musa to throw a HIMARS or maybe a HAWK battery up.
Frogmen? It explains a lot as I was dropping CBU’s on the water because I was picking things up on GMT but couldn’t see anything.
Me outbound with Schurem coming in.
Lots of air battles to be had today. Luckily everyone was running their IFF, maybe an advantage of the hot starts jets everyone was taking.
Something moved on the islands and I locked it with the ground moving target radar but those CBUs just hit the water.
I setup a HAWK site on the NE corner of Abu Musu, so red air will won’t have an uncontested ingress anymore. It reaches almost up to the Tunb Defense point, so for a lot of that attack we can be under our own SAM coverage.
Nasams or patriot are not an option?
As much as it pains me not having been there, it’s glorious to read.
Mudspikers are Professionals, after all!

Clearly!
I mean, we just need someone to hire us to hang around here and do some multiplaying and it would totally be a profession! Match my salary and I’ll quit my job and do this full time!
You should have seen our “too fast, too furious” Viggen landings at Khassab after and during Operation Naval Gazing! They were gloriously hilarious!
I tried to repeat a little of that glory later against a red cargo ship, but I misjudged the aim and my RB-15s sailed past the thing completely obliviously. I later blasted the tub with a pair of Mk-83s from a harrier.
Right! About your…icy…runways in the desert…
Did you use thrust reverser?
It is actually an issue with the real aicraft that at a certain speed (need to look it up the manual) the reverser can create enough of an air cushion under the aircraft so the main wheels lose grip…
What a great evening flying with all of you guys.
Especially flying the Viggen again after a long time - this time even with Mudspike’s own local Viggen SME ![]()
You can upgrade a zone to have a patriot system, but I don’t have the rank for that yet.
I do believe NASAMS was an options, but I thought in the version in DCS it was shorter range than the HAWK. I’ll build one on whatever we take next and check.
That explains ![]()
How awesome that this behavior is in the sim too!
