Server is up. Was able to hop on for a minute and lose some points, haha. Got a solid HARM kill and runway destruction via the Hornet. Then scored a Frogfoot kill in the Viggen after a total wiff of a rocket attack. Didn’t end well: CFIT due to phone call, haha. Strange that you can’t pause multiplayer. Must be a bug.

I’m assuming some of you are at the end of the South Atlantic trial period..I just got back from a week out of town and see that we are pretty much at the same spot as when I left..so I’m guessing we are a “NO” vote for continuing that campaign? I’m fine with it..it was something I owned already and thought was interesting..but I think the consensus by participation is that something else would be better?
I just finished the trial period today. I think the Hun coming out probably contributed to the lack of people flying Foothold, I know it certainly did for me. My MiL broke her hip Tuesday night, and she lives in Dallas (3 hour drive) so I’ve been off and on with that as well, and will be for probably at least a month. The full modern equipment set, particularly with a much more aggressive Red doesn’t appeal to me as much as some of the other ones we’ve done. With the DCS sale on I might pick up SA, I’m on the fence about it right now. The terrain takes up a good bit of space, and overall I was kind of disappointed with some of the area’s we were flying over for the disc footprint it required. I think Syria has just kinda spoiled me with the level of detail it has. I’m game for whatever we have up on the server, SA just happens to be one I don’t already own.

For me, I have been on the road for the past week and it will be the end of the month before I can put any significant time into the campaign. So, if the group would like to start a new campaign on a different map then it’s all good.

Been enjoying the AAR’s and watching Derby live on Discord but I do not have the SA and currently also no space for it. Been considering a new terrain to pick up but with the group I fly with we don’t even have any missions setup there, Afghanistan or Germany are now higher up on the list for me.
EDIT: After checking their space requirements that’s a no go too haha. Syria is where we fly most and even though DCS does update quickly waiting an hour every time to change scenery is a bit extreme

They are both good choices. The CWG map is my absolute favourite map but Afghanistan has come a long way since release and the high mountain ranges look stunning. The high elevation also makes for some interesting helo ops.

Yep they both look stunning, and I think Rotorheads is also going to Germany after Afghanistan so that would be a pre. Though, currently space is limited. I need to get myself some extra storage but… eh…

I just had a look at SSD prices and … oof. If I bought my 4TB 990 Pro SSDs right now that would be 1600€. I got them for less than 300€ a piece. They are now more than 200€ more expensive than they were on sale in 2024 when I bought them (I think they were on sale for something like 280€ back then)

I havent been able to find time and energy to play with you guys. I do have the map installed, and I do love the game and want to join, but as the others said, its been way too hot of late to play more than a short hop in a Hun.

Thanks for all the genuine opinions. I’ll mirror everyone else’s thoughts on time constraints. With the boys out of school for the summer..and me being a very summer-ish type hobbyist with kayak fishing and windsurfing I’ve found my spare time being eaten up by traveling. Plus I recently moved my aging parents down to Myrtle Beach..so I’ve been commuting there when I have blocks of time off to spend time with them. Throw in the work schedule..and yeah..I fell y’all.
Oh man..sorry to hear that. Well..if I catch you in the Dallas area I’ll be there for a week in late July for training. I hope she heals up well. A broken hip is no joke.
I think we will end up doing that. Probably Syria or PG as I don’t own Germany or Afghanistan yet. I’ll also dial back the modern SAM systems. I’d like to fly the JF-17 though in the next campaign..so it will probably not be pure Cold War.

If it was me I’d like to see more modern SAMs if we’re not doing cold war but I will be fine with whatever. SEAD/DEAD is my favourite mission type. And despite losing a bunch of F-15Es against an SA-11 I’d like to see more. The losses were entirely my fault as I was wrestling with the F-15Es incomplete JDAM implementation and not respecting the SAM while I was trying to figure out the limits of my GBU-38’s 
Edit: I think with the recent Syria updates I’d like to see that map again.

PG/Syria would be good for me, missed the PG campaign and only did some helo work on the final objective in Syria.
I have no strong AA preference, modern or ye old time, both is fine. Love to practice my rocket lofting skills on a populated airbase one of these days

We will probably do Syria again as the next map. That said..I see Afghanistan is on sale for $35 which seems like a good price..so I’ll pick that up on sale for the future.
Edit..also Iraq. Oh…what the heck..it’s Father’s Day today so I’ll buy myself some presents.

I picked up the Iraq map last night as it’s on sale.
Syria sounds good for the next campaign, especially after the recent update. Can we add the F-100D to the list of available aircraft?
