The lighting/rendering is weird in Forza. I can’t figure out what they are trying to do. Like the overview shot of the entire field before a race. The FPS is jerky and feels sluggish, but looks identical to the visuals in-game. Even during the pre-race countdown, sometimes I can see the lighting change exactly when the countdown ends. Occasionally, it’s a drastic change.
If the game somehow was looking amazing during the pre-race overview and during the countdown, better than the actual gameplay, and they switched it out to something lower quality for play, I could see the point (I’d think that was terrible, but at least the reason would be there). But it’s not the case at all.
And it’s not like there is some performance limit causing the weirdness. Because I can load up a replay, and pan across the entire field of cars, and it’s butter smooth and sharp. No jerky FPS, no visual lighting changes.
It sounds like the start of a joke… but anyway… How can you tell the AI drivers from Multiplayer gamers on the 1st lap of a Forza Motorsport race? The AI brakes for no reason, the multiplayers don’t brake at all. lol (But the following laps are usually great and respectful.)
So… although still more issues than we’d prefer with this title overall, T10 FINALLY delivers on a track that so many have been looking to come back since it last appeared 14 years ago in FM4… FUJIMI KAIDO!!
Even if the dust has piled upon your FM install (or it’s been deleted) fire it back up to experience this track. It’s AMAZEBALLS!!
Am I on the old SimHQ Crew’s friends list? I honestly don’t recall seeing any of the user names online anymore,
when I use my Xbox 360 for FM4, it doesn’t show my full friends list, but I only use my XB:O / SX for NHL games, everything else has been released on PC, so I tend to get those on MS Marketplace or Steam.
Edit: I Saw Leemz playing Elder Scrolls a few days ago…
But a lot of my Xbox friends list was from OG and 360 era, and many of them have moved on.
XB Live has gotten stale with the overflow of underage kids so I stopped paying for gold a few years back after 20+ years.
No way I’m holding my breath for VR support with FM… Assetto Corsa with CM/CSP/PURE covers that just fine, especially with my Q3 now. Hopefully EVO replaces that in the future.
FM is definitely the better all around with Console and PC cross platform multiplayer but it still just doesn’t feel as good a driving experience. I’m on PC with a wheel now and it’s solid, way better than previous Forza Motorsport titles but if it weren’t for a group of us that have been together basically since the first Forza, I wouldn’t be driving it at all.
Brakes have always been something I have to tweak w/ every FM Game, to the point where most of use in FM1/2/3/4 had modified our wheels by putting supplemental resistance behind the brake pedal to get a better feel. (ie part of a large $2 car wash sponge). This carried over from the MSFFB Wheel, to the Fanetec CSR Elite Pedals.
Eventually I got the Spring in the CSR Elite Pedals to feel good without other mods, but then it was off in other sims (iRacing etc).
the Funny part is, Forza IS Casual racing to me, so I do it more for fun vs Pro-Sim eSports.
Yea, I just don’t have the time to make an iRacing subscription worth it for me. I’ve got a group of guys that run Forza weekly (we’ve been around for almost 20+ years) and so that’s the main reason. The current FM reboot has so many things right and left so many things on the table (again…) for a “sim” title. We make so and it’s the easiest way for our group to get together, especially being able to cross play console and PC. Most of us have since moved back to PC in the last few years and also dabbled with iRacing at some point. Assetto Corsa, with all of its mod support, CM, CSP, SOL and PURE really make that a great looking and feeling title. I’ve found that is where I want to spend my time, especially as I move towards VR.
I did get my rig moved into the new space this weekend along with the new pedals… so far in limited testing, FM still feels like garbage so it’s going to take some work. AC felt pretty good and I’m happy with how they feel so far compared to the previous T3PA - Pro w/Ricmotech LC Brake.
Most of my Forza friends left a while back because we all grew tired of the teens and preteens infiltration of Xbox Live, I kept up with FM by going to 5. which was as dissapointing as I expected it to be, then moved back to PC with the FM6 PC Demo Mini build, I bought the full on Everything for FM7. and enjoy playing on the PC with the fanatec wheel, and resuming on my TV and Xbox with a controller.
Once I move, I may rebuild my entire sim pit seat setup, for both flight and racing. right now its all attached to my desk, which isnt really and optimal position for pedal control.
I keep seeing FM on sale, but right now I dont have the time to even play it. let alone the SSD space.
I may end up getting Game Pass Ultimate, but honestly that would kill any M2 Drives I get cause I bounce around games like a kid on skittles.
Plus I’d have to start over. as most of my XBL Friends from 2001ish have moved on. I turned my Gold Account off after 20 yrs, due to the environment. and the fact that PC versions didnt require it.
Shoot just findinf reliable friends in some of the extraction shooters has proven to be a challenge.
Guys, I don’t know what your issue to Forza Motorsport (2023), actually the game is in much better shape than was when the game was released, and with much more content. Perfectly playable on Xbox Series X with the controller.
