FSEconomy - Mudspike Air Delivery Rebirth

I’ll take that leg later unless it’s already done.

Its all yours!

Although she shows her age, she flies nice. I left the keys under the right skid.

Who’s our resident skin artist?

(of course whatever he paints, by the time we get it we’ll have moved on  )

Nice work brother!! The helo isn’t too far from there I’ll try to move it closer tonight. Been spending too much time in DCS.

Ok I got the 412 up to Okeelanta (FL41). Should just be a short hop from its new home.

What a great machine, eh? It practically prints its own money. If you want to have fun in the hills, come up to Jackson Hole where I’m at. There’s one here that rents dry for $260.

Its a lot of fun in VR, especially with the hand controls.

Sorry to hear about the aviation side of life there @Sine_Nomine. We are looking down the barrel of it here as well (my wife is middle management at American Airlines) - I think October 1 is the day that will live in infamy for the airline business in the United States.

Re: the X-Trident review - that was a fun one to write. I’d caution anyone taking guidance from old reviews though that time moves on, X-Plane moves on, and sometimes developers don’t keep up with changes. So, I’m happy to hear that others have had continued good success with the 412 and that it is still working in late X-Plane 11 betas. X-Trident is a great company with a nice vision of what they want to accomplish.

Thanks, @Rhinosaurus!

Bought it

Glad that you got used to her so quickly! My UH-1H skills are absolutely not fresh so I’m very glad to see a proper 94 page manual that I’m going through now.

15 miles? I might just be able to pull that off. If I don’t make it all the way they can walk the rest.

Roger, I’ll take her out for a spin

I had to abort. I got her started up just fine. (Surprisingly, it was very much like you said, the UH-1 instinct kicked in on start up, just a couple of rearrangements such as the battery buttons and the starter switch). The first time I actually failed because I didn’t see and thus did not remove all those external RBF flags  When I got the GPS going it became apparent that X-Plane 11 has no knowledge of any airport that ID’s itself as FL40 exists. I tried going back to menu to find Hummingbirds landing airport by hand but the only one found has way different coordinates. Considering the hour I had to call it a night.

So now only you can take her from there

Just took her for a spin! The autopilot is giving me some real issues, though. Once I engage automatic control over the collective, I can never regain manual control. Heading hold also feels a tiny bit wonky in that it is always a couple of degrees off (either side) and holds it there. Is there anything wrong on my end? Am I doing something wrong? How is this all working for you guys?

Edit: Found the cause of the issue. Sharing here in case anybody else runs into this. To prevent issues, the devs built in some sort of “safety” that the auto-collective will not disengage unless your collective position matches the virtual one. The fact that I pull for power caused an issue that my physical throttle, my x-plane registered collective position and the Bell’s virtual collective never lined up to enable the disconnect. The fix for this issue is to dive into the plugin options, find the hardware throttle section and enable “Force Reverse Collective”.
