That looks like an awesome route. I’ve been running a short, inverted version of that with my Grand Canyon tour route.
Is that a C-46 for XP-11? If so, Me Wants!
unfortunately not
Shucks. I’d really like an XP version. There is just something about that aircraft…
Those mismatched ICAO identifiers drove me nuts in fse.
Check if you can get the auto-collective to disengage properly. RADALT is a little aggressive since it wants constant control over the display where you can set parameters for the autopilot, so either set your velocity hold beforehand or simply use barometric altitude hold if that is safe. At some times, and for reasons I do not 100% understand the AP pulls some shenanigans when flying on NAV (such as doing tight orbits for no apparent reason), so I’ve been using HDG hold exclusively.
I haven’t tried any of the approach and landings modes so I can’t comment on those. I only used it to fly the relatively straight legs of the flight and put her down manually.
@Sryan @Sine_Nomine I wonder if the autopilot issues are because our 412 is currently missing IFR/GPS equipment in FSEconomy? It says its VFR only, not sure if the app can somehow disable these features before we “install” them at maintenance shop somewhere. I don’t even know how to turn on autopilot in the x-trident 412 so I’ve never had issues.
Pretty sure it does disable it if the fse equipment doesn’t have it.
Gunny, how much would it cost to upgrade the 412? Can’t see because despite the lease, you’re the official owner.
I’m not sure, I’ll check when I get home. We should have enough to cover it though. I think we’re over 200k again.
Ok it cost like 80k, but shes ready to go now. I flew it back to 9FL6 so we could get a little discount on the install. Should be fully IFR/GPS/Autopilot capable now!
I’m not sure who made that, but maybe here is a slot open there? When the OG FBO was abandoned I think it gave us all the building materials. Maybe someone did some scouting?
Seems like a long way to go? Maybe a 747 can hump all that over there?
I’m going to have to try that drift meter… I have the C-119 installed and ready for AH2 but I didn’t realize it had this feature.
As always, an enjoyable read CP!
That is a gold mine of an airport. Great run!
Great airport perhaps. But one crappy tourist-trap of a town. @Sine_Nomine, that was a great writeup. What a neat machine. It looks like it carries as much mass in crew as it does in cargo.
I just wanted to give a heads-up that I slightly increased the rental price and reduced the maximum rental time for our 208. As it is a default plane in FS2020, it’s been getting a lot of attention from renters. It made about 37 engine hours since FS2020 was released while hardly being touched before that. I also noticed people were hogging the thing since you can keep it in reserve for 10 hours and some people used that to keep her grounded for over 8 hours until they flew it again. As such I halved that time to 5 hours which should be plenty for any planning and flying that needs to be done. If someone disagrees it can easily be changed back.
Last month we made $33.000 in aircraft rentals, up from $1100 the month before. Star of this show is our 208 that is now up to 65 engine hours since MSFS was released. I’ve been slightly increasing its price over the past weeks due to its constant demand. I also checked what others were charging for theirs and ours was still quite cheap. Some I saw were nearing $2000 an hour for an all-inclusive ride. This morning I raised our price to $800 for the same service. However, I noticed an unusual large amount of 208’s for sale.
It looked like some fresh 208’s left the Cessna factory and got seeded into the game. Perhaps our days of free money from our 208 will be over but we’ll see.
Funny how a fake market isn’t really fake at all. The fact that the rental price will go up with the increased demand brought by MSFS makes perfect sense. Still weird though.
In other news I figured that the B412 needed some TLC so I took it on a short hop yesterday with decent revenue on both legs. I’ll fly her home today.
I was fantasizing today about helicopters in MSFS…
