Games we are playing

So I picked these to up after seeing a card popup in my google news:

Absolute drift is a quirky little title, that has one glaring flaw for me. You can’t re-assign controls, which leaves my game pad having to use a button for the throttle. It’s still fun, but until I can get a some kind of analog axis for throttle it’s a minor diversion at best.

Art of rally on the other hand punches well above it’s weight. It is by far one of the most fun rally titles I’ve played in a long time. While it doesn’t have the graphics of say Dirt 2, or the realism of RBR, it encompasses the spirit of rallying incredibly well. The stylized graphics are amazing, the physics are surprisingly deep, and the car set is great. The lack of setup options on the cars might bother some, but I find it refreshing. The goal is the driving. The stages is short (usually 3-5 minutes) so it’s great for a quick fix, or when time is short.

I would highly recommend Art of Rally. Absolute Drift, if you have a PS5 or Xbox One you should be golden as your controller is mapped already. If you’re using a different type of control, I’ll give it a tentative recommendation. The visual style is great, and I like the mechanics, they can just be very difficult to access with the control setup that you might be required to use.
