Games we are playing

I’ve been playing Isonzo (WWI MP tac shooter), since the free weekend 2 weeks back. I won’t pretend it’s as good value as Dirt Rally 2 at the same €10.

However, I find that the mix of crouching, sneaking and storming through mud, snow, mountains and shot up houses is really fun!
Having never played Verdun, the team aspect and the grimness of the bleed mechanics and the 5-bullet , “one shot, one kill” rifles everywhere are great fun in a relaxing way, that I look forward to even when I don’t have the energy to pull out the HOTAS and VR.

Still waiting since Feb for the big update. Can’t believe we have to wait till next week for their announcement for when it will be released!

I’m kinda stoked for that announcement. The game has me oscillating between hating it and really digging it. I hate it when the game decides to dump in its drawers and do something idiotic. I love it when it clicks and works.

So, presumably, with what’s planned with 1.0? It’ll be great.

A couple titles that I’ve been spending some time with:

Sailwind on Steam (steampowered.com)

Fairly realistic sailing simulation, being a tramp trader in a fictional sea. It’s a one man studio, and they’re doing a great job. Very low key most of the time, as the time is compressed, but there’s no acceleration option. It is very chill to spend an hour or two watching the waves as you sail between islands. Being caught in a storm is the opposite though. If you enjoy sailing, it’s a definite change of pace from most of the other titles.

Hydrofoil Generation on Steam (steampowered.com)

You want to go fast instead, how about 50 knots plus? Also an EA title, MP only right now. You can solo practice though. It’d be fun to get together some MS’s and crash some hyrdofoils I think. A very different sailing experience. With full assists on it’s pretty accessible. I’m getting my money’s worth, but if you’re on the fence about boat racing games, might wait till it’s on sale.

Boat Crew on Steam (steampowered.com)

Bomber Crew meets PT boats in the PTO. There’s a demo, give it a try. Definitely not realistic (they parachute in supplies for you to pickup). But it’s a fun diversion.

I liked idea, on paper, how you wrote it- but as an artist the stylization of the human figures is dreadful.

Wait- I don’t mean that the graphic is bad- it’s a style I get it- but the way the human figures are stylized is wrong in every possible way.

Do they still not let you use your sights on your pistol when running the shield? One of my biggest pet peeves with shields in FPS’s how do they think we aim in the real world?

To me it looks as if they can’t decide whether they want to be lego characters or Kerbal’s?

Yeah, in short the art director hasn’t clear ideas.

Which, probably I’m the only human feeling that but…

Hydrofoil Generation has me intrigued.

I raced a ‘Paper Tiger’ catamaran for a couple of years when I was a teen.

No it struck me as odd too. It’s in EA though so they might get it fixed up before release.

The first time you get it up on the foils and realize you’re doing 20 knots and the indicator is climbing like an F-104 in burner, it’s pretty cool. My dad raced catamaran’s years before I was born when he was stationed down in the Caribbean. Always sounded like a blast when he talks about it, but not much place to do that in central Texas.

Growing up we always had boats. I probably spent more time on the water than I did on dry land when I was a kid.

I have added it to my wishlish… let’s see how long I can resist temptation for

For only 30 bucks. Not long at all :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Now in my library.

 What time zone are you in? I’m gmt -6, I’d love to do a little racing and see how horrible I am at this lol

It is 23:59 UTC as I type this, so GMT +10/11

Ping is the biggest killer for me and multiplayer - GEO satellite.

One of these days we should give it a shot after I get off of work. I’m usually home around 1200 - 1215 UTC. No clue how optimized their net code is.

Why not… After all, we’re both up and at our computers right now

I will let you know when I think I’m ready to race

Just hopped onto MP here before I head in to work, showing about 150-250ms ping on the servers. Everything ran great on my end, had someone jump on and we ran a quick race, looked like they had a disconnect 3/4s of the way through, but no crazy lagging or teleporting on my end. They simply, stopped turning mid tack and coasted to a stop.
