BF42 and BF Vietnam had it. Those were the 2 I played the most, 20 years ago!
By the time BF2 came out and made the Desert Storm mod commercial I had mostly given up.
BFV had the added bonus of being able to charge VC AI in an M113 while blasting “Fortunate Son” out its speakers. +1 realism!
I had issues downloading a dcs patch and missed @schurem fight club.
However i had the most wonderful evening fighting bots on the absolutely classic battlefield 2 on singleplayer. I had totally forgotten about this and had a really exciting time playing this.
No silly tech, no killstreak crap. Just point, shoot and drive. Bliss
Best of all. No people. Challenge was more than enough for me, this is the way forward i think. Gonna sort some mods tomorrow
I’ve been too busy with work to really even touch games lately but I really wanted to try Tiny Glade as I had seen a few videos of it prior to release over the last few weeks.
Below are a few of my first attempts tonight. It’s very low key, there’s no objective, no bosses, no micro transactions, people, no online multiplayer. Just a meadow and unlimited resources to build castles, towns and gardens. Honestly for the price its well worth it if your looking for something less action oriented. Now I will admit I think it would be cool if I could fly a fighter jet through the rolling hills around my new castle… but I digress lol
Comes with some very nice camera controls for screen shots including a top down map mode, first person mode and of course a flying mode.
I just discovered Lone Echo while looking at VR games. A little embarrassed, I can’t explain how I missed it before, but it’s an wonderful VR title. As atmospheric and engaging as any VR title I’ve ever played, it stacks right up there with HL:Alyx and Boneworks/Bonelabs IMO. The second one is even better, although you should really start with the first. Great story, engaging NPC(s), and really cool setting. The graphics in 2024 look astoundingly good on Q3, perhaps even better than HL:Alyx did. I wish Meta hadn’t shutdown the studio, because I’d love to see a third entry to the series. It’s criminal what they did to Ready at Dawn.
I had The Expanse opening music playing in my head the whole time I was playing. The open-world (spacewalking an entire space station on I, and an asteroid field/mining facility/space station on II) was really good and very immersive. Puzzles are simple but pretty good. Story and graphics were astounding on both.
So over the weekend I finally managed to install Terminator : Resistance and Superliminal.
So, as @Victork2 mentioned, Terminator is absolutely stellar. Just barely finished the first mission and the atmosphere is thicc! Impressive how so much iconography is mixed with new material and it just works so well.
It helps that this past weekend me and my son Gabriel Watched together the very first Terminator movie. He was so amazed!
We had a blast of a time.
But Superliminal? (this Superliminal on Steam) OMFG…
This game is breaking my brain so gooooood
I reached an early end- which pays homage to Silent Hill 2- and I was laughing my ass off… first because it’s just perfect, and secondly because it’s a very comical thing that comes after a very very tense part that plays with shadow, light, and it’s really really anxiety triggering.
Both are 100% worth all the money they cost (but I got them in a sale for literally peanuts which is even better!)
Speaking of legal abyss, I still have my CD copy of No One Lives Forever 1 and 2, which is good as they will apparently NEVER come out or be remade/remastered.
Too many hands in the pie and no one knows who owns what other than like half a dozen companies who probably own some of it.
