Games we are playing

If we’re talking games I PLAYED in 2024, it’s easily RoboCop: Rogue City for me.

That is one one of my installed, but not yet played games. From the sounds of things it might be a contender for my 2025 GOTY.

My GOTY from April 2024 to April 2025 is

Helldivers 2

Steam claims I have 228 hours on record.

The best part being that I played almost all hours coop with my best friend since Kindergarden. And we rarely ever played games together since North&South in the 80s! Or Alley cat. Or Arcade Volley Ball. All in 4 colors CGA.

I was pleasantly surprised by RoboCop. It exceeded all of my expectations.

That’s really cool. I still keep in touch with a friend from Primary/Elementary school & he lives in the same city as my parents and brother so they see him all the time (Mum calls him her #3 son). But Kindergarden, wow!

Yeah we lost touch for years but helldivers2 brought us back together more often. We love to kick our butts off of high cliffs for no reason. The game is hilarious. Easy on effort to get a session rolling, so we keep coming back to it. Definitely GOTY 2024 for me.

I am currently very impressed by Split Fiction.

My brother bought it on Steam and since we have a “family” set up (with my other brother too) we can all access each other games.

I have been playing it with my son Gabriel and we are having an ABSOLUTE blast! This game is AMAZING! Purposefully made for two player simultaneous co-op split screen.

We are creating indelible memories.

I am contemplating getting it, but judging by videos I am not sure if my kids are good enough to not drive me insane in it.

So my son is 11 and approaching 12 by June, and he is not a very action oriented player.

He is not an FPS player and he is average at best- yeah I know don’t tell him- but to his credit he never gives up. We are breezing through the game with a very few spots where we do repeat things more than 10 times. I have zero issues with his mistakes because it’s clear to notice how he is improving literally on the spots*.

There are most sections that literally fly past so quickly that are truly cinematic and dare I say epic.

Get it- you won’t be disappointed.

*But word of caution I am a very patient man with my kids- as long as I see that the effort required is engaging to them I would never get upset or frustrated.
That extends as well to homework and studying.

I just adore to see them putting effort and learning/growing in skill.

Played Gran turismo 2 last night just mainly to see if the disc worked. Before i knew it its 2am and I’m still hard at it.

The driving in that game is absolutely bloody phenomenal fun. I bought an 89 nissan micra super turbo. 700kg, 150hp with a bit of tuning and an absolute weapon. Best fun I’ve had since forza horizons 4. Arcade magic.

RL Mudrunner. The stream over time was washing the right post away, so I needed to get the digger in.

Got it sorted, then got the digger stuck twice, using the tractor and a strop round the boom managed to pull it out ok. Phew. :slightly_smiling_face:

Or maybe just R.

Right. That’s it. How do i start a Petition for BLACK on Ps2 to be remastered.

I loved this game when it came out. Played it to death. But I’ve tried a couple of time to play it recently and it just hasnt clicked. Now, maybe its because I’ve been playing a ridiculous amount of PS2 lately. But last night, the Click happened. I couldn’t put it down. Sat up till 3am and did the first 4 levels, which even today feel HUGE.

Obi came in this afternoon and sat watching for a bit. I was bristling, waiting for him to start moaning about it being “blurry, blocky” or “just old looking” but he sat watching and we both said that this does not look like a game from 19 years ago on a ps2.

He had a go and was just lost immediately in the atmosphere.

This game REALLY needs a remaster. Like urgently

Yesterday evening me and my son Gabriel finished Split fiction.

It was monumental.

I am sure these were some of the most amazing gaming memories we forged… The story ended up being very straightforward and easy to follow which I feel is part of why it struck such a chord with my son.

Great acting, lush visuals, fantastic sound design and extremely tight controls make it easily one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had in split screen co-op.
