Games we are playing

Watching the saved stream on your channel really helped me get my wheels up on this one. Also convinced me to actually try it.

Of all the sims from that era, this is one of the very few that has aged with some degree of grace and is approachable by someone who was barely figuring out the F-22 on the Genesis at the time.

It’s $8 US on Steam and GoG. Don’t worry about stick finagling with DOS Box etc, it doesn’t actually use a stick. The emphasis is on systems management rather than precision flying. It’s one of the reasons why it holds up on its original strengths.

I remember doing it for XCOM - UFO Defense. I always thought it was annoying and placed an enormous amount of weight on the manual (which I still have) but here? It turns it into an immersive element. It’s cool.

Oh thank you so much, that is most kind!

And if I might interject, many sims from this era hold up just fine.

You know, I may put that theory to the test. The more fantastical, I think the better chance it has.

OMG how did I forget Megafortress had in-flight refuelling? Was it the first sim to do so, I wonder?

I’m trying to find release dates on both Megafortress and another game, F-22 Interceptor. I had it on my Genesis and I know that had inflight refueling:

Hah, both 1991, though I can’t tell which one dropped first.

There’s another 1991 game with in-flight refuel… Argonaut’s Birds of Prey.

I have two monitor at work and I put games screenshots as desktops to make my days less bleak.
Today I was graced with this combination…

Two flight sims, both over Germany, both the best in their respective time.

Whats the top one? I recognise it but can’t put my finger on it? F15 strike eagle?

Looks to be F-19 Stealth fighter (C64 version) I played that so much.
