Oh heck yeah. Reforger has reached masterful level of goodness.
Yeah I’ve heard good and bad about it honestly, but it’s not moving the needle of interest into whether I want to pick it up. I can wait until next year for A4, as I just don’t feel the need to move on yet, I’m still getting mileage from A3 so I’ll keep it around.
Should link to the actual game, too. Geez. Which is indeed excellent.
Instead of driving the last nails in the War of Hormuz with all of you, I got sucked into this all weekend:
Damn you… I will let you know how many ‘lost’ hours this post has caused ![]()
Do you sometimes just get tired of the present so you go back to the past?
I am doing that right now, and having a blast.
I used to play Guild Wars back in 2007 before I succumbed to peer pressure and joined my buddies in WoW. I continued playing it before switching to Guild Wars 2, which I also played for a while.
Recently it received its first update in 12 years or so, “Guild Wars Reforged”. I jumped back in and I am having a blast playing my old characters, and a few new ones. In fact I now play it in my old guild with four family members. We are having a blast, I hope they don’t ruin the game. It just takes me back to the old times. Simpler times.
It isn’t like other MMOs, you can play it for free, as a single player game. No P2W (really!). It is unlike any other game I ever played, even its own sequel (which is good but very different).
Edit; and no, I don’t know why I wrote “having a blast” four times. I promise I haven’t been replaced by AI.
Oooh! Shiny!
I never played Guild Wars, but I loved slower MMORPG like Ultima Online.
If you had to define the best and the strongest points of GW, what would you say?
Ooh.. I think it is creating/adjusting your own build.
In Guild Wars characters have two classes, and you can change the second one and reskill any time you are in an outpost, for free. You only have a skill bar of eight skills though.
So it kinda has a “deck building” aspect to it. You build your skill bar (and also that of your party, later in the game) and then you go and try the dungeon/mission/map.
It has surprisingly little grind for most of the game, and almost all areas of the game are viable for the “endgame”. You reach the max level (20) shortly after the tutorial, and the best armor in the game is cheap. The expensive stuff is mostly cosmetic.
Only 3 (and a bit) hours ‘wasted’ so far… I haven’t quite finished the Caretaker ‘tutorial’ but restarted the game multiple times until I figured out not to get ahead of myself (with fixing Voyager) and not to waste resources.
Oh, and unfortunately it seems that not ‘recruiting’ Nelix isn’t an option ![]()
There are many ways to get rid of Neelix ![]()
Lore wise I think there are two Harry Kims (super vanilla, mirror universe interesting), two B’Elanna Torres (human, klingon), the Tuvix combo, a brain damaged Tuvok that laughs more and of course boring/evil Kes.
As a game is it very rogue ish or quite fair?
I have had to replay bits when losing people to bad rolls. It is a bit RNG heavy, but otherwise a fine game.
In that case. I’m liking this game more already. ![]()
They are working on a ‘quicksave’ so that will make it less of a PITA because of the RNG.
As @schurem says it is a fine game, especially if you are a fan of the franchise. Voyager is about 5th-6th on the list of ‘favourite Trek’ for me but I think that it is worth the price of admission… plus I like supporting smaller indie developers.
This game, you guys. It’s wonderful.
The little fella has discovered Crysis.
I’ve never played it but am totally blown away by the thing from 2007. I’m not exaggerating when I say, if you showed me this as new game from maybe 2022. I’d believe you.
Its amazing
I played it back in 2007. LOVE seeing this!
Incredible that a game old enough to drive a car still looks so close to what is acceptable for a modern game.
It really is incredible to be honest. I wasn’t expecting much at all but its absolutely phenomenal.
I’m slightly irked that I missed out on this one
You didnt miss out. It took till now to actually be able to run the game
