Games we are playing

Fired up Frontier Pilot Simulator again after the thread about Space Hauler. Also, with life events going on, having something to fly with a gentler bent than DCS for a night was enjoyable. Still a very atmospheric game, with some good visuals and some fun flying. I don’t think I had played it since the marked it “complete,” and they did polish some things up. If you have it and haven’t played it in a while I’d recommend giving it a whirl, and if you don’t might be worth giving it a shot.

So, the Isle is pretty great. It really makes you play like you’re part of the ecosystem. I’ll write more later when I’m not about to hit the hay.

So, the Isle.

This is a lot of fun and very inviting, even for those of us who have long since cast off multiplayer games. The brilliance is that it leverages the innate aggression brought to a multiplayer setting as a natural instinct within a simulated ecosystem.

Each dinosaur lends itself toward certain playstyles. If you’re new and want something to that’ll help you play? Carnotaurus. As the (possibly) fastest dinosaur in the fossil record, it’s speed allows you to control any fight you’re in. Want teamwork? 2-3 Troodons are a gigantic pain in the ass and any gathering of large herbivores is a moving fortress.

The aggressing brought by tweaking teenagers and their urge to call other people slurs is quickly dampened by a Stegosaur’s thagomizer to the face. Or when a giant ancient gator snaps them up at water’s edge. Or when they try to spawnkill at a nest only to discover that the mother Rex takes exception to that.

So, you have to hunt, stalk, and be an opportunist for what food you can get. It does a very good job of simulating an ecosystem.

I’m keep playing Casualties : Unknown occasionally.

my initial mental shock with this game had been replaced by a lot of annoyingness trying to baby sit cowardly weakass manchild dog until 5th stage.

It makes me very furious when this dog refuses my order and make situations worse, but my skill is slowly improving and can regularly enter 3th stage with not much issue.

People seems to call this game a furry game but no it’s a fury game.

Today I made it to the end of C:U demo. the end of demo is just looking back to layer 2 so I finished the dog with full dose of fentanyl which is currently the most peaceful way of dying.

I’m looking forward to the full release of this game as I got interested by its unforgiving gameplay and lore.

Gothic 1 Remake has been released on Steam.

I will get it eventually as I have VERY fond memories of this German classic!

Gah I don’t have any time to play more games right now. I really want to, though. Loved that game.

Nice. Will be picking this one up for sure

You can maybe sleep less?

I know what you’re talking about.

My Steam library is growing steadily like my book library and I will probably get to deal with both at the same time - retirement

Don’t count on it. I seem to have less free time now and wonder how I ever found the time for work.

Soooooo true! I don’t think I’ve ever accomplished so little while doing so much as I have being retired.

@keets and @jenrick have nailed it with the ‘retirement paradox’.

But there are upsides:

Or as we say - “Every day is Saturday”

What if they fought the Spanish civil war* with a Metal Gear-esque twin 800mm walking artillery piece? That’s what Iron Nest is all about. The demo came out today.

*It’s not really that, it’s a fictional conflict with fictional participants but I feel that resembles it most closely.
