Put a couple of hours into “The Riftbreaker” twin stick, top down base building horde type shooter.
I wasn’t expecting much, but the story is cool. The gameplay is pretty epic and I’m quite enjoying it.
It reminds me of something but I can’t place it. The building and resource tree is kind of like Total Annihilation and the shooty gameplay is like every other twin stick but with a 5 metre robot suit called Mr Riggs who has a personality not unlike BT from Titanfall 2.
It’s bloody hard, but from what I’ve played so far I’d recommend it.

At $15 USD, It not bad. Think truck sim but with trains. Still early access but not to bad at the current price.

Yeah I brought it when it was out, ofc its not a hardcore train sim like Run8 or Zusi3, but its very inovative and fun the economical side of it. I tried a bit and liked what i saw, but waiting for a released version to start burn hours on it in a more serious way.

Has anyone else played Riftbreaker?
I’ve got a fair few hours into it now. It’s a very interesting title. I cannot for the life of me work out if I completely love it or absolutely hate it.
Parts of it, story, character, voice acting, setting, are genuinely amazing. The gunplay, resource management and base building are top notch as well.
The thing that bothers me about it is the feeling that I’m being pushed, hurried and rushed all the time. I build my resources a bit. Get my base walls built up and some AI cores construction so I can get some turrets up and running, the game seems to be constantly nagging me to do the next thing, even though that will put me on the back foot and leave me weakened and low on resources etc. I get that it is wanting me to progress and keep the flow going but it just seems to do it by irritation and repeating itself over and over again until I do what it wants just to shut it up, at which point the first thing that happens is either a massive attack on my base or the next objective.
It’s a really interesting game, very cool and even though it irritates the hell out of me. I still keep firing it up and playing it more. So I obviously don’t hate it, but it really really is annoying.
Who ever though of including the power conduit things is a moron as well. We can traverse the whole galaxy via rift gate but we can’t send power wirelessly 40 feet.

I was woken up by an extremely excited child this morning to remind me it’s forza day!!
We’ve been playing for 2 hours now and it’s AWESOME

And i love how deadly this is, and its almost always really fun to die …so many stupid ways to kill your self

Ok, photo mode. I don’t think the graphics look ‘Extreme’ but will fiddle later, perhaps turn off the motion blur and all that.
So like all the other Horizon games, you do missions on a map and you see other multiplayers automatically. Cool.
The first mission seems to be ‘hold the throttle down and see an aircraft again’.
Lots of jumps then.
Fun stuff, but not really in the mood. Technically its brilliant, but you have to like the manic presentation, and of course, love the cars and absurd situations.

Nice screens! I played the last one set in England with the Game Pass last year. Hopefully my account resets and I can get the 3 months for $1 deal again. But I have a lot on my plate at the moment, with COD:Vanguard released and BF2042 around the corner.

I did the $1 thing again, after doing the same with FH 4, so it looks like it forgets. It’s a 100 GB download but the playable area is huge.

I’m absolutely loving it. I was Stood down from work last night and after peeling my wife off of fallout 4 I played till 3 in the morning.
I loved the 4th edition but this map is beautiful.

I’m also looking forward to BF2042. Vanguard is new to me … how do you like it? Is it the typical COD run and gun twitchfest?
I like vanguard a lot. The gunplay is good and the most maps are really good. It’s basically a ww2 reskin of mw2019, which I thought I was good.
But yes, it’s a twitch fest for the most part. There is skill based matchmaking, so if you continually suck, you’ll get to people your level.
I’m 48 and do reasonably well, so people can’t use the excuse of “I’m too old to play those games.”

If you want to play the best ww2 shooter, play Enlisted
I just don’t like playing them online. I hate being shouted at.
Arma is about as heavy as I can go anymore and that’s got worse since I last played it as well unfortunately
Thanks. It’s tempting and I’d get it if 2042 wasn’t releasing today. I think I’m going to go nuts and grab the Gold edition for early access. I’ll give it a try tonight and let you know how it is. Then again, you’re probaby going to be trying it with the 10 hour early access EA play deal for $5 anyway.
